Came across this interesting quote:

In 2018, a gas chromatography–mass spectrometry study quantified agmatine levels in the brains of post-mortem humans who died by suicide and showed reduced agmatine levels in the suicide cortex regardless of these individuals formerly meeting the criteria for MDD versus controls[56].

I was reading this article which summarizes the findings of agmatine as an anti depressant:

Valverde AP, Camargo A, Rodrigues ALS. Agmatine as a novel candidate for rapid-onset antidepressant response. World J Psychiatr 2021; 11(11): 981-996 [PMID: 34888168 DOI: 10.5498/wjp.v11.i11.981]

I started taking agmatine a few days ago to try to repair some of my receptors post-opiate usage as I had read it can reduce opiate tolerance. I have been feeling really positive though all of a sudden and wondered what could be responsible. Seems agamatine is fairly unknown but could be pretty effective at countering depression. It works on receptors similar to Ketamine which is starting to be used for depression clinically.

Also:

Decreased plasma agmatine levels in autistic subjects

The study found remarkably lower agmatine levels in patients with ASD compared with the non-ASD control group (p < 0.001). These findings support the notion that agmatine might contribute to the pathogenesis of ASD and may serve as a new target for treatment.

It's Agmatine Sulfate (?) I think. They might use it for body building.

OP how long did it take to help? I have heard of it helping before and did try it, but I didn't give it much time to work because I gave up easily.

I dont think the reduced agmatine causes suicidal thoughts. Instead when someone is suicidal their agmatine is reduced through some chemical reaction within the brain.
Blaming peoples behaviours on chemical in the brain is very stupid since we aren't simple on/off machines
