I called my doctor today and said that I need more sleeping pills because I can not sleep - for many years I have suffered from sleeping problems. Futhermore, I work at night and during the day there is a lot of noice from the neighbours and the traffic. The doctor sounded angry when he said: "How long are you going to go on that?" I wanted to respond: "Euthanasia is the solution to this problem, then I will not be tormented by my sleeping problems and you will get rid of me." But what would have happened if I had said so in a society that denies death, a society that do not understand and only wants us to live? The doctors want to prolong our lives, no matter the circumstances. Our pets can be killed at the vet, but humans should only live. I answered: "I have chronic sleep disorders and as time goes on, the sleeping pills will run out. I can not sleep at night and there is a lot of noise from the neighbours." The doctor was silent for a moment and then he said: "I will prescribe tablets like before." Today I bought Stilnoct and Propavan from the pharmacy. But I will be tormented by my sleeping problems for the rest of my life - euthanasia is the solution to human suffering - no one should have to commit suicide.

Yes, I agree. I feel like it would be comforting for many people knowing they could exit this world peacefully at a time of their own choosing. Suicide should not be so stigmatised. It is cruel how the society expects us to suffer for decades and the life expectancy is too long. I think that allowing euthanasia for all of us would shatter the delusion that many people hold that life is always worth living. In a world like this, wanting suicide is perfectly rational.

Society does not deny death, it just does not directly facilitate it. Yes it would be great for me personally if someone would very kindly give me a lethal injection on request, but this policy would obviously not be for the greater societal good.

Suicide is hard, I'm still alive purely because l don't have the required courage, and that's probably the same for a lot of folk here, caught between that need to go and that something within that prevents us, l absolutely understand this torment but there is an almost daily discussion on here bemoaning the fact that someone else isn't going to kill them on request and it's quite right imo that this does not happen.

Fortunately climate change and weapons of mass destruction will probably do the job for us, I give it 20 yrs for massive change.

on another note, sleep is my closest crocodile to the boat, I am so deprived it becomes a blur between being awake, napping or god forbid 2hrs straight sleep. The other night 0410 still awake and up at 0630 for work.

i've got money on this all being for nothing with each increase in technology it becomes easier to destroy things that's what's going to be our undoing a biological weapon or computer virus, someone will be in the position of power to do it

Olanzapin is not for sleeping disorders, it is for psychiatric diagnoses!

This is a funny one for me, on the one hand I agree we have choice but I can bring myself to blame the so called 'do Golders'. They like us believe they are doing the right thing.

I do think that with some safeguards we should be able to leave peacefully without this cat and mouse merry go round of ctb methods. Maybe when we become super woke it will be a human right to die

This is inaccurate in that we are all at liberty to ctb at any time of our choosing. Nobody is forcing life upon us, the only thing stopping us is ourselves. Anger at indeterminate others for not facilitating our ceasing to exist is absolutely futile.

Harsh but actually spot on

If we are resourceful enough and plan, the end is achievable
