I watched a show recently in which the main character's life fell apart due to alcoholism. I empathized with him. In the last part of the show, an old friend told him the best time to quit was when he was hung over. I thought, "I never want to be there again."
Today, I woke up to burst water pipes, a frozen and ruined floor... About an hour ago, I ended my 1-year+ sobriety.
I used to think I understood society's hatred or disgust for suicidal people. But I don't get why they don't rejoice that those they consider losers aren't mucking up their culture anymore and wasting resources that could be used for valuable people.
