  • Egoistic suicide reflects a prolonged sense of not belonging, of not being integrated in a community. It results from the suicide's sense that s/he has no tether. This absence can give rise to meaninglessness, apathy, melancholy, and depression.[2] Durkheim calls such detachment "excessive individuation". Those individuals who were not sufficiently bound to social groups (and therefore well-defined values, traditions, norms, and goals) were left with little social support or guidance, and were therefore more likely to commit suicide. Durkheim found that suicide occurred more often among unmarried people, especially unmarried men, whom he found had less to bind and connect them to stable social norms and goals.[3]
This completely sums up my life and the real root of my problems. Not sufficiently bound to social groups. It really explains my genuine lack of any internal navigation or motivation towards any goal. Anyone else feel the same way?

I will do it because things here are unworthy and I decided enlong my life is a stupid choice. The loneliness I feel is a secondary effect usually caused by my anxiety.

I simply think I don't fit in any place and all my relationships will be weak but isn't my main reason.

Holy shit, yeah, pretty much sums me up as well. I think that that's what I've been trying to get at with my thinking and posting.

It could even be referred to as a sort of temporal misalignment (one is not in embedded within a satisfactory era; one could even argue via centered world, that one's consciousness doesn't exist within a satisfactory medium/species) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centered_world

"The idea of possible worlds is most commonly attributed to Gottfried Liebniz, who spoke of possible worlds as ideas in the mind of God and used the notion to argue that our actually created world must be "the best of all possible worlds". Arthur Schopenhauer argued that on the contrary our world must be the worst of all possible worlds, because if it were only a little worse it could not continue to exist."

"Awareness and acknowledgment of the arbitrariness of Dasein is characterized as a state of "thrown-ness" in the present with all its attendant frustrations, sufferings, and demands that one does not choose, such as social conventions or ties of kinship and duty. The very fact of one's own existence is a manifestation of thrown-ness."

"We may regard the present state of the universe as the effect of its past and the cause of its future. An intellect which at a certain moment would know all forces that set nature in motion, and all positions of all items of which nature is composed, if this intellect were also vast enough to submit these data to analysis, it would embrace in a single formula the movements of the greatest bodies of the universe and those of the tiniest atom; for such an intellect nothing would be uncertain and the future just like the past would be present before its eyes." --Pierre Simon Laplace, A Philosophical Essay on Probabilities

The early-21st century is a de facto arbitrary era of human civilization (featuring widely-varying levels of sociocultural, technological, and ethical/moral advancement)

I don't think it has much to do with any sort of temporal misalignment. Seems like it probably has more to do with some combination of being born shy and not taught appropriate socialization skills. Being without appropriate social skills would be a massive detriment in any era or society. I think it's more likely that in past eras people of this type died pretty quickly as the group was much more necessary for survival. They were probably a lot more rare as well as people had many less options to distract them from the hard work of learning how to interact.

Yes when it comes down to it this really is my main problem. It's a terrible lonely feeling. Especially looking back on your past attempts to fit in and realizing you never really did. Just trying to fake it to make it but you were a joke or invisible to those around you. What's worse is people you thought cared will put you down just to gain a little advantage in the social hierarchy in front of everyone else and kick you to the curb. It really fucking hurts being a sensitive person and remember all of them painful slights and rejections.

I'm killing myself at some point due to chronic pain and anxiety.
If my problem were not fitting in into social groups, I would try to live on (at least up to a point) as you can always meet new people, change jobs, or do something to see if you can meet someone where you can fit in. Also, there is nothing wrong with not fitting in-many people are douchey anyway. I also never fitted in anywhere and it always gave me a lot of pain and suicidal thoughts and then I took up my hobby and found like minded people. Some people here have Asperger's-where I live, we actually have dating websites for Asperger's! So there's always hope in a sense. In my last job, I was also the weirdo again but who cares? It's only people-to me not worth killing myself over. Of course, if I were being attacked, jeered at or insulted every day then I would probably have suicidal thoughts again but it I would quit my job. To me, fitting in is not even a worthy goal inself. I spend most of my time alone or with my BF and that is perfectly fine for me. I do my thing, and the others do theirs.
I now live in chronic pain and it is really talking my will to live
