Just found this article through Google. It talks about the effects of SN on animals.

" Thirty chickens and ducks were poisoned by having a plastic tube stuck deep into their throats. All but 12 died within 48 minutes.

Research notes said the animals struggled to breathe, vomited, had diarrhoea and lost their coordination and consciousness after being fed the poison."

Oh, also the article uses both "nitrate" and "nitrite" so wonder which one was actually used

They initially refer to it as "nitrite" but this changes to "nitrate" later on in the article.

Edit: there are some links at the bottom which clarify that the substance is SN.

Exactly what was the point of the experiment? Did they expect them to start dancing and singing praise?
