It will partly depend on how it was packaged and handled by the manufacturer/sender. The stuff that gets sent out in its original packaging (sealed bottles, etc.) will last the longest. If the sender did repackaging from a large container into smaller containers, and if the plastic is not impervious to air, the shelf life will be shorter. If the people who confiscated it opened the bag, the shelf life will be shorter. Etc.

SN is a salt, so if the bag is unopened and you keep it away from moisture, it should last for many years.

It was confiscated by customs? I don't understand, it's legal to sell and to purchase. It's under fire, people are not happy about it's sales...but it is not illegal. Hmm......did you get a letter from customs saying that it was confiscated? Did you get into any trouble?

My bad, I didn't read that before I posted my last comment. You aren't going to get it back so don't worry about it. Do you live in a group home or similar setting? I used to work as a counselor.... and I hate to tell you this but if they know what that is, they are going to notify your psychiatrist and write a case note about it. Your mail will then be checked through on a regular basis. If you were going to be sent to a hospital they would have already done that.

As an answer to your question, No SN does NOT last forever. When exposed to oxygen it oxidizes and turns into NitrATE. So it does have a shelf life.

There is an expiry date on my bottle. But since it´s a preservative it will last longer.

Not from what I read online, it can last from 3 months to 2 years depending on the packaging. You could learn how to seal it in an air-tight container to extend its life

You should only order the SN if you plan to take it immediately when you get it. There is no need to hold onto it I feel.

Should we be concerned about how long the manufacturer had the SN before we received it?

I have SN that I got just over a year ago. On the manufacturer's website it says their bottles are leakproof. Is it likely my SN is still good?

uh, no? cause SN is becoming more and more scarce and harder to find. what if someone dont plan on CTB right away but wants a reliable CTB method in safe keeping because they know they will CTB at some point, whether it be in 1 year or 5 years or 10 years. you might not be able to get it in 5 years, so get it while you can and store it in a safe spot.
