Does SN expire?

I found a very official looking bottle of it in our school lab, 98% purity. Expired January 2023.

I also found some sources that it cannot expire.

So............................what? Is this usable for CTB purposes? Conveniently there seem to be no cameras and I'm at least authorized to enter the lab...

Good question...pics of packages I've seen posted on here have expiry dates on them. I mean if it's anything like cooking salt (e.g. pink himalayan), then it shouldn't expire

SN is not overly hard to obtain anyway. might not be a good idea to take it from your school

It says "Best before: October 2025" the SN next to me. But probably it will last way longer

Theoretically, it may still be possible for you to be able to CTB with it, but I'd advise against doing so. SN's extremely easy to obtain & I wouldn't risk a potential failure in exchange for not having to wait for shipping or whatever you're concerned about. The eternal nothingness postmortem greatly outweighs a month or so spent waiting for your SN to arrive or racking up the cash required to pay for it.

you're right. it's just that i've only found one source and though they claim their SN is "premium tech grade" and 99% purity, i'm a bit concerned about how they package it (basically in a plastic bag). but maybe that's because you can order it from as small as 50 grams.

I wouldn't risk it. I ordered from CCS and I don't even feel comfortable CTBing on that given it was shipped unsealed though I have since vacuum sealed it in food packaging.

Are you a chem student? If there is anything I'd take from a lab like that it'd be cyanide. It would be a great plan Z/final option for you given its ease of use. It's basically impossible for unlicensed people to obtain and believe me I've looked. If it's there at least secure it as an option for yourself, even if it's horrific, it's a damn sure way to go.
