Does getting a hotel room for two days on Sunday, the day after Christmas, look suspicious?

Who'd find it suspicious? The hotel just rents out the rooms, I don't think they care at all to think about what costumers business might be. You could be visiting family or be on some important business travel or visiting a mistress for all they know.
No one cares when or how long you book a hotel. Some hotels have a minimum stay but not usually
What does raise a red flag is booking one way flights on short notice . It's less so with the airline but it often gets you a special government screening before your flight (US readers may be familiar with your boarding pass reading SSSS)
