The things that work the quickest and easiest are the things you want to stay away from. Don't resort to drugs, alcohol, self-harm, or general risky behavior unless you're already considering something worse (unless the drugs are prescribed medication ofc). Shit like meditation or journalling works for some people. I have to exercise until I'm sobbing to get out of my numbness sometimes. But other times, forcing yourself to do the things you used to enjoy, even if you don't anymore, brings back some emotions.

Either way, sorry you're feeling that bullshit. You're not alone in it.

For me, I just distract myself by any means necessary. Binging Youtube or taking several hour naps are helpful for me.

I try to do something I enjoy whether it's watching youtube or an old tv show I used to enjoy or some nerdy computer programming thing. It's very easy to just bedrot though.

Yeah, typically drugs prescribed to reduce emotional numbness are somewhat effective at reducing emotional numbness. Don't know what's confusing about that

Playing games, reading books/comics, watching videos. Reading this forum. Anything to constantly distract yourself, really.

They cause all sorts of side effects. I have PSSD, It's no fun being an emotionless zombie with no libido.

Try to find a hobby or an activity you enjoy and keep doing it even if sometimes you are too apathetic to want to. Don't abandon your plans if you can (I know it's harder than it may look like). Do exercise, find a group to play boardgames, play a good videogame... Like tryingtoquietdown said, avoid unhealthy activities.

Therapy and meds are not a magical solution to everything like some people think, but they can help in some cases, and apathy can sometimes be reduced with prescribed medication.

I know some of what I said sounds like a stereotype, but I feel/felt apathy too and it helped me. For example, I used to make plans and then, when the day came, I didn't want to do it anymore. Despite that, (sometimes) I still did it, and even if I hated it for several hours, I was able to enjoy it after these hours.

Because prescribed drugs are safe and effective? Lol wtf
Unless you overdose with them, yes, they are safe and potentially effective. If you follow the instructions of the psychiatrist, they can give you enough energy to get a hobby or relationships or something in a safe way.

I'm sorry you got side effects, but meds are still a decent gamble if you are desperate. Doing hard drugs without control will likely end with you addicted and worse.

I do not recommand meds. They can cause more apathy and debilitating side effects.
You can try sports ( to run for exemple), a cold shower, sun, nature, microdosing psylocibin ( really effective!!).

It's more a case of getting temporary short term pleasures, and very mild emotion out of doomscrolling, at least in my case.
