My purpose in life had been to live for the people I had as pet companions, but in general, I like it when people love them. It's good that people love animals, but leaving this world knowing that there are many people who particularly love rabbits gives me a certain peace.

There's invasive, feral rabbits all around my area. European colonizers released them here centuries ago to have something to shoot at. Rabbits aren't native here.

They live all over the city now, I see them at the college, other schools, the hospital, shopping malls. I love them and will talk to them and get pics whenever I see them.

A friend of mine is jealous and wishes he lived here with the bunnies all over. I send him all of the pictures I take.

That's one of the things that makes me very sad. Many "apes" (humans) see them only as food. Personally, I find them very endearing. I wouldn't want to live in a place like the one you're describing, because I'd feel sad seeing corpses, mutilated rabbits, and other things that would be even more depressing.

Today I saw the corpse of a dead cat. It's not my favorite animal, but it was sad...

Hahaha, no, I took someone's picture and saved it because it makes me feel so tender, they are adorable... They look like two bunnies I had, they had the same cute little faces... I cry sometimes when I remember when they were alive and look at that picture.

Never seen a dead or injured one in my 20+ years here, actually. People do treat them well. I sometimes see them eating little piles of food someone has left for them.

that poor kitty. i choose to believe its death was not caused by humans, or at least unintentionally. cats are one of my favorite animals if not the favorite, but so are rabbits.
where i live there are many deer. a long time ago i also happened to see a deer corpse while on a school field trip. it interested me in a way i couldn't describe, and that's when i learned the term "morbid curiosity" lol

oh, how sweet; i'm truly sorry for your loss... i can already tell that they were well cared for and given wonderful, happy lives. are you considering adopting more rabbits?

They are beautiful, gentle creatures. I would love to have one but, my environment wouldn't be good for any animal. Let alone me!

I used to work in a large warehouse. One morning, we were chatting before work and I looked down and one was sitting next to my feet! Poor thing. I imagine it would usually run like hell but I suspect it was too tied. We put it in a box and gave it some grass. Someone offered it a tangerine but, I doubt it had ever seen one! It liked the grass though.

They would lay down poison for rats/ mice there so- I was so worried that it might have eaten some. I rang the RSPCA I think in the end because, I didn't know whether it was safe to release it- if it had ingested poison but, they thought it unlikely. It hopped away ok. I was halfway imagining taking it home and building it an enclosure but, being wild, I think it was likely happier going back there.

Friends at school kept rabbits. They also built a small pond at one point and watched in horror as the rabbit followed a frog into it! Maybe because they both hopped, it felt some affinity. It was fine- by the way.

Lol- the names of those rabbits are hilarious- Carnage and Mangler?

I love lots of animals but, I can understand why people do especially love rabbits. They're just so perfectly cute. Were yours house rabbits or, mainly outside?

I've even considered adopting, but I don't have the physical or mental strength to continue. I follow rabbit shelter websites and people who have foster homes for them, and I notice the difficulty they have in providing for their needs. In that sense, I feel like I've failed them all. Although most lived an average life, three of the eight lived much less than that, and a large part of that was my fault. I don't see adopting others as viable when I've failed the first ones.

It's a long story, but you could say it all started when my brother-in-law found one at work and brought it to my house. They gave it up for adoption because at the time no one thought of taking it in. However, I felt tenderness for those small and beautiful animals, so I had the clumsy idea of buying a couple to breed and even sell (yes, I was very stupid back then). That was more than 10 years ago, so looking back, my mentality has changed. On the one hand, I began to value the lives of animals in general, but rabbits in particular. I saw how they were born, from when they were babies. Some were stillborn or died hours after birth, and I learned several things. So, basically, I can say that they were house rabbits, since the first two I had were very small when I got them, and the remaining 6 were born at home.
