Absolutely. In fact, I was the result of a faulty condom. My mother didn't want to have me but did since abortion goes agasint her values. And so, I grew up unloved in the shadow of my older brother who was planned and she preferred over me. I really shouldn't be alive.

I don't regret being born on earth. Somewhere in my tiny heart, I still believe life/experience of physicality does have some merit. Even the pain, struggle, and drama are included, not only joy, pleasure, and happiness. Negativity exists in order to draw contrast to positivity. Both side of polarity simply coexist in life, and I appreciate both side of the coin.

But, I totally despise the family and circumstances of my birth. Why did I have to be born under shitty family in shitty country? I can easily see myself not being depressed and suicidal if only I were born in different circumstances. Every time I saw "lucky" people on the internet living in different/better country, my heart was filled with intense jealousy. Why it couldn't be me? Why!

Sure. Although it's a fairly useless wish, isn't it? Once you get to ponder the issue it's already too late.

Can you elaborate on that?
As long as we are able to get a peaceful death, being born shouldn't scare you. If you really want to end it you can as soon as you are capable of making a decision, so even if you are forced to be born you are not forced to continue with your life. Killing yourself also means you give up everything that's potentially good for you because you disagree with the fate life has given you, but if you weren't born, something else would have chosen your fate instead of you, would you want that? As a man you are entitled to make your own choices, both in life and death, and you should never lose the ability of making your own choices. This is why I think being born is not bad in itself as long as it's not a hopeless scenario where you can't choose.

Yeah, I do. Life is nothing but misery and aimless wandering. Even if somehow something or someone start to bring happiness, life makes sure to take it away from you in the most painful way possible.

I most certainly wish I had never been born on this world, and regret taking that choice for whatever reason I had decided to.

Omg, get over the whole, "I wish I had never been born," bs! Obviously, if you're on here bitching about it, you were born and there's not a damn thing you can do about it! If this is the only reason for ctb, that's really freaking pathetic, just my opinion.

Clearly it would have been better not to have been born at all (a very old conviction most recently defended by professor of philosophy and ethics David Benatar, who doesn't think it's BS and he's pretty smart man by all accounts) but obviously it's too late to prevent one's own birth.

The idea is not stupid as it could be the basis for antinatalism: the ethical position that it's wrong to bring children into this world as it clearly harms them.

That's the problem isn't it? Who or what garantees you'll have a peaceful death even if humane suicide would be perfectly legal? You might still die in a horrible car accident burning to death just to name one of the many ways one's life could end brutally and most painfully.

I don't get the notion of something being 'potentially good' nor any notion of fate for that matter. It also seems rather incompatible with the ability to make any choice at all.

I could in theory have been born a genius which would have been a good thing (potentially good) but I doubt I could claim to have been harmed by the absence of something that would have been or could have been good for me. Losing something that you had and that was actually good for you does constitute a definite harm (e.g. health).

If I hadn't been born how on earth how could I have been deprived of anything? There simply wouldn't be an 'I': someone to experience both pain and pleasure.

Of course there's not a damn thing we can do about it. But if we hadn't been born, we wouldn't be here dealing with the shit life is throwing at us.

So, yes, I wish I had never been born. It would have spared me 49 years of pain, misery and suffering.

What is your reason for wanting to ctb?

It would be true if euthanasia for money for everyone was allowed everywhere. I dreamed of a peaceful death for more than 20 years, but for me this is unattainable. I don't even have the money to buy at least something, I'm a coward and also having mental disorders is very hard even to sleep and eat, not to mention achieve peaceful death. I don't understand what choice is being said, for me there is no choice, I am more helpless than a slave - this is hopeless scenario where i can't choose anything, i can't live and i can't die.

Wishing I hadn't been born is pointless, but I do feel it would've been better if I hadn't. My parents weren't ready for kids. I had myself sterilised at an early age to make sure I didn't repeat the error.

Good point. If I had a girlfriend I would opt for sterilization aswell. How old were you when you had it done? It seems in most countries doctors actually scoff at the wish to remain childless/childfree and refuse to operate on people under a certain age.

I wish I had never been born. I grew up in a decent environment with loving and supporting parents, but I still developed mental illnesses and want to die. I am a third child in the family and I can't get the thought that my birth was a mistake out of my head.

@Jean Amery, I was 24 at the time - I know I was lucky to find a program that agreed to do it. (I'm a she-soul, by the way. Not that it matters. I just didn't want to risk being talked into anything when I got older and mellower, you know?)

That is god awful. It seems to me it's not you who is trash but your parents: what kind of human-beings tell that to their very own children? Society should have protected you from them and allowed you to grow up among normal people.

I truly am sorry you were subjected to that kind of psychological torture. No wonder you feel like crap. All I can say is try to realize how insane your parents are/were and discover your own potential in this world.

That seems like an excellent reason to stay alive: just to spite her. Your mother is a horrible person who deserves hell for what she said to you.

Obviously there isn't anything I can do about it. What's done is done. But yes, I wish I hadn't been born (as do my parents). My life was one misfortune after another. The sadness in my life eclipsed the few happy moments and my life for the most part has been a downward spiral. But, it's also because I don't like myself, this world or life itself, and not just because my life was utter shit.

i voted 'no' because i feel more at ease having found a means of peaceful exit. life seems more bearable when you know you can leave at your own discretion, although there are those who'd have us believe otherwise.
