• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Do you think we'll see a shift in how we talk about suicide writ-large?

Mental illness and suicide rates have steadily climbed since 2000, only seeing a small dip in 2020 before skyrocketing back up. It isn't difficult to imagine why: the economy is plummeting, ecological disasters and destruction is now commonplace, fascism and totalitarian regimes are taking hold, and communities have been atomized or outright erased just to name a few. Medical and mental health establishments are not going to be able to keep up, as they've already been swamped having to do more with much less, and the entire mental health system is revealing itself to be a total sham. Even mainstream publications like TIME are calling into question the efficacy of mental health and suicide prevention tactics. With everything going on, we are sure to see a significant uptick in suicide attempts.

My question is this: do you think we'll see a shift in how we talk about suicide as a result of this? People are still trying to brush it aside and only discuss it in terms of prevention, but I'm wondering if we'll see that change as the world becomes more unliveable. SS has had a pretty steady increase in its userbase especially lately, as far as to now garner mainstream attention, and I'm unsure if its ideas will proliferate rather than be shut down entirely.

I think over time, suicide will be talked about more, but the discussions and opinions around it won't change much. Pro-life ideologies will still remain the marjority opinion.

life/living will always be the priority and it will always mostly be a one-sided 'conversation' with consequences following it. phrases like 'your options be exhausted completely before suicide' will always be thrown around along with its ignorance.
people wanting/needing to kill themselves will be seen in only a bad light -- a tragedy. it's not something people can fight for politically (like unionizing a job) unless you have a diagnosed chronic illness, but even then people still struggle to get assistance. it's about ending a life permanently that people will be fighting for, not other humans rights that can make life comfortable and reasonable to live. the government/politicians will try to preserve you because a people are seen as a commodity.

there will never be an agreement about suicide that leans towards accepting and understanding the person's right to. there are far too many factors that prevent people to critically think and be completely open about the idea because of their upbringing/early indoctrination. suicide discussion is 'beyond worse' when it comes to religion and social issues like women's rights.

it will continue to be brushed aside because most people are too damn busy trying to live. people who believe struggling and surviving is a badge of honor. yet not everyone wants to live that way, or to live at all.

even if this forum was somehow shutdown, a way will be found to create another. it'll be a major inconvenience more than anything. it won't stop people from trying to gather again and help each other with information to efficiently kill themselves, or to find support where they won't be sent to the fucking hospital for simply talking about suicide.

new people join the forum all the time. doesn't mean they stick around. i've seen a few suicidal users stop being active. they're still alive. just not active here. the 'increase' in users doesn't mean much in that case as they will eventually come and go.

i've been wondering about that too, especially with the ongoing debate regarding physician-assisted euthanasia. i know disorders aren't the same as illnesses, but i remember skimming a couple research papers on the increase of assisted suicide for patients with personality disorders. despite the increase over the years, the general consensus still seems that it's frowned upon. it's definitely not unreasonable to have hope in everybody's will to live regardless of how they may be suffering, but i agree that a lot of mental health treatments are ineffective at best, and actively dehumanizing at worst. practically everyone i know who has dealt with suicidality has a couple horror stories about being stuck in residential or inpatient lol

i think, as the world deteriorates, it's inevitable that suicide will continue to increase. definitely not to the point where it's officially certified by anything mainstream (that feels a little too dystopian lol), but i think people will find a way regardless. even if sasu gets shut down, it's not impossible to picture other similar sites popping up over the next few years.

i'm unsure if the replication of sasu-esque sites is a good thing though, especially for people who actually do have the potential to get better. i feel like desensitization to violence and gore etc has been normalized over the past decade, and along with (from what i've seen) people generally becoming more ill-spirited and unsympathetic, it'll probably lead to suicide-baiting and similar malicious behaviors. i can see the masses latching onto something like that as an excuse to push for heavier restrictions on suicide sites.

it's regrettably tragic--people genuinely suicidal and/or in horrible levels of pain will get pushed aside into the excuse of a mental health system we have, while the media pities, demonizes, and alienates us because we don't want to keep suffering.

Here's the problem with society, they don't care about anyone with mental illness until they have experienced it. That's what so fucking messed up, either they are doing it for the money or just making stuff up so they won't get blamed on. I am sure there are good people but so far society have shown no improvement when it comes to these thing.

Absolutely not, in fact in the future it will not even be possible to pronounce or write the word "suicide", because all systems will be trained to repress any type of content that includes the theme of suicide, and this mechanism of repression in the media will condition people to avoid these words even in common language. The stigma on suicide will always be worse.

I find the argument that suicide is morally wrong to have no logic behind it. Why is it wrong if I choose to suicide? Why should you be able to prevent me from doing it? I've yet to find a pro-lifer that can argue this point with logic.

I fear there's always going to be pushback, and even more so. Look at how quick they work towards regulating any sort of peaceful method. Making it tough to get SN, N, even some inert gases. As a Canadian, I am not even hopeful that MAID will be accepted in March 2027 for those who suffer for mental illness.

I think the only people who talk about suicide and mental illness are the people who have attempted or have them. That and have people in their lives who have experienced others attempts , death and illnesses .
With it becoming more prominent in society people will notice.

no . google and meta facebook with their super ai will shut all talk of suicide down. google owns youtube, google , gmail , android phones and many other tech. facebook owns facebook meta instangram whatsapp and many other tech. just these 2 evil companies as we see how they censor suicide for example on google they put a help line on you etc this is the only site and google hides this site. youtube google facebook for example you can't post videos on how to do a suicide method effectively . that will be taken down and you will be banned. now these 2 companies dominate the internet and android phones . and their ai is getting more powerful every month. so they'll use ai to make a profile on all of us , censor us more and report anyone that has suicidality score to the mental hospital to be locked up. mark my words this will happe imo anyway.

they will censor method info more, imo most suicidal people will be put in mental hospitals in the future ai will monitor all texts, emails, internet activity etc. especially the ai of google and meta

no one suicidal will be able to even buy a rope much less SN or anytihng that could be used for suicide. you will click on a rope and the ai will catch it and call the police mental hospital as we've seen the SN and N welfare checks . and the rope , charcoal , sn etc will be confiscated. it will be a million times harder to get out of this prison . any suicidal kind of speech ai will only censor it more and lock us up

No. I think only suicidal people talk about suicide as if it were normal. Most others are at least afraid of it (which, to some extent, I think is fairly understandable)

I think that once they have manufactured enough robots and developed enough A.I. to do all jobs, they should slowly transition towards letting us die by method choice., because will be then be completely useless to them. All of the unemployed will be left to either kill ourselves or fight over the leftover scraps until no one is left standing. Then Zuckerberg will come out of his underground bunker, Bezos will dock his mega yacht and Elon will come back from his vacation on Mars. They'll have the world all to themselves, free of all of us disgusting maggots that keep reproducing more maggots every year and using up all the resources. It's going to get ugly.

why don't they let the 80 and 90 year olds and other disabled that can't work and want to suicide do it? why don't they allow a 90 year old bed bound in constant pain to commit suicide even when they are begging for someone to kill them? . it's ideological to these monsters. it's much worse and deeper than people know these assholes are all about controlling and keeping everyone in this prison no matter if they can work or not in this prison. they are sick evil pieces of shit. they couldn't care less if people are suffering or any kind of common sense. it's like me or one of us talking to pro-lifers. i can give them all kinds of reasons and we know what they will say. it's not about logic , reason, common sense or even mercy . no it's about total control , evil and pro life cult bs and much more than that but im not going to reveal more of this here

all throughout history the suicide prohibition state has gotten worse over the years as tech grows censorship and control grows espeically suicide prohibition and censorship of suicide method info. the evilest assholes ever are not going to suddenly change and be mericiful or change their evil controlling and anti-suicide policies imo they will use ai to further increase the suicide prohition and suicide method censorship as i posted in my previous post . these assholes are pure evil : imo things are going to get much worse as google and meta get more powerful ai and use it against us to control us and enslave us more. i do agree with your last statement it;s going to get uglier and unlier as their ai gets more powerful

I wish, but it won't happened becuase it is such a taboo. The only place I can openly talk about it is here. I scared friends when I told them about my ideations and past attempts, so I learned not to talk about it.
