In the UK the law changed recently. People with terminal illnesses will be able to apply for euthanasia. It's a good start but it would be even better if we adopted rules like Switzerland or Netherlands, where you can apply for euthanasia for mental suffering.

I want to leave but the only method open to me is SN. I just want to sleep or pass out and be gone. I haven't had any luck in sourcing SN so I guess I'm stuck here. It's so frustrating. I'm poor and a coward, so I don't wanna consider other methods like jumping off bridges.

People euthanise dogs, for instance, when they have temperaments that limit their adoption prospects. I am just like a dog, I have been abused to the point where I can't form relationships with other humans. I don't want to hurt anyone, I just want to be gone from this place.

Hey, I feel you and I hope you can find peace wherever you wish to go. Big hug ♥
In Switzerland there is this myth that people can get euthanized for mental suffering, but it is not entirely true. Patients can get euthanized there after a very lengthy medical assessment (speaking in years) and always need to be suffering from other chronic diseases that disable them strongly. Think of severe physical or mental disabilities, or chronic pains with no hopes of recovery, BUT who are still able to articulate a will to die.

About euthanizing chronically ill patients, there are debates on the mental impact such procedures have on medical staff as well. And the eternal "there is still slight hope!" argument.

And for other profiles, the thing is, countries need people, mainly as workforce. If you can work on their terms, there is no reason for law to change on that. That's my slightly pessimistic view on it.

Thanks for the info.

Thing is, AI might replace a lot of jobs. The 0.001% only see us as useless eaters anyway.

Unfortunately not before many other things break (painfully) in this world. That's because euthanasia is not about care, it's about control. And there are too many humans on this planet for governments to ease up on "controls" (yes even for these people to off themselves). The government must decide and have power over you, never you yourself… 😔

I really understand as all I want is to be gone from this futile, torturous existence and I always suffer so much from how I cannot just have a painless, guaranteed death so finally I can be at peace. I see so much cruelty in how humans cannot choose to be euthanised with the suffering and torture of existing seen as to force and prolong no matter what, it's all so terrible to me, all that anti-suicide does is cause way more suffering and harm in this existence where there is no limit as to how much one can suffer.

It would be nice if laws relaxed enough to allow easier and affordable access to a peaceful death. I understand many of the reasons why there are obstacles to this for just anyone. Humans tend to have knee-jerk reactions to things sometimes that if they were here to regret later they would... and death is final as far as we know. But, still, I wish we had an easier path when we come to this decision.
