They might want to understand you better. I sometimes have the feeling it does not matter when I am dead. My best friends know everything. and won't search for anything. I might give them a list with passwords if they want access to pictures/memes/ funny moments when I am gone. What I don't want is my family to look up my computer. I might use a password and delete some stuff. My family already knows my reasons why I want to die and that I like privacy. They should respect that.
Not sure if it really would change something. I won't leave a note only a patient's degree (there are some reasons)

no one I live with knows how I'm really feeling let alone what I've been up to lately, or for the past year, really. I very much value my privacy and I guess when I'm dead, that won't really matter. I can imagine their curiosity, but I hope to leave nothing behind for anyone to find whenever that time comes.

I am planning to print out anything they need, I copied all pics to a separate backup and I am going to smash my iPad and iPhone with a rubber mallet.
There are way too many things I don't want my family to know. I wrote out my feelings. They can die with me.

It is a uncomfortable thought, as my privacy is really important. I would probably try to delete everything from my devices before I ctb. Everything my family needs to know will be written on notes. I tell myself it doesn't matter really as I simply won't exist anymore.

Maybe, but I would of thought the police would, a investigation by police will be opened to why you CTB, they treat it the same as murder, in the sense that they want to know the reasons why and if any one else was involved

I've been wondering about this...if the police confiscate my phone/laptop during the death investigation and manage to hack into them (they're both password encrypted), would they later return them to my family and give them my passwords? Or would they return them to my family w/o giving them the passwords? Or just never return them? I have nosy family members who I'd prefer stay the hell out of my stuff once I'm gone.

No, they've known my intentions for years. And they'll likely know what was the tipping point.
I plan to take out whatever money I have in bank accounts and send it to what little family I have left to
defray any extra clean up costs. The landlord can keep the security deposit. I don't want a funeral.

If the police want to get into your phone as they think there is evidence, a password encryption, a encrypted drive or operating system will not be a issue for them to bypass.

If you are concerned about your phone, brake it and dispose of it, then the problem is no longer a probelm. Hope this helps

Make sure you brake the main board in the phone and ipad, then throw them out, if you don't break hard drive of the devices, and the memory storage they can get everything from it

I've made it clear to my mom that if I should die before her that she should destroy my laptop and phone. But honestly if say ppl do go through it they'll just find a bunch of anime, football, horror, and ctb related content. I'm a pretty basic and boring person. However I am a very private person and any info about me being let out is embarrassing in my eyes. I don't even like to tell people what my fav music is offline.

No because I browse the site in incognito mode only and delete my search history a lot.

My bookmarked websites on google chrome have websites site that match my personality these politics websites, feminists blogs , travel blogs, urban exploration blogs etc. There is NOTHING about mental health.

When I am home I just now pretend I am happy and just be a loving daughter, granddaughter and sister who is always helping out at home.

The last time i talked about my feelings my family didn't listen and just dismissed everything. They will say " you have a family who care , you are not homeless, you have a bed , a British passport " or another one would be " you are too Young to be feeling this way wait until your my age" or " we love we gave a lot of birthday presents "

I now pretend to be happy and my family actually believe it.
My family say " you are doing so well we are so proud "

In the end I killed myself because I was absolutely upset that I failed to have my life together before 30 and I didn't want to see the next 20 years . I cant see my life ever getting better and can longer see myself having a future with career, man who loves me , a place of my own and just being happy .

I am not strong enough for this world. I cant do it anymore
Had I helped to actually live I wouldn't want to kill myself anymore

Serious question, why not just throw away your phone or break it before CTB if you don't want anyone to invade your privacy? I mean... that's what I plan to do.
"Waste of money" well not really, since you're gonna be dead and not waste any money ever again...?

Passwords, duh.

There is no guarantee your attempt will succeed.
Sure, you can't be 100% sure you will die. But you can be 99% sure depending on your method and how well planned out it is. If it's something like jumping off a high place, there are few variables that would cause that to not succeed...? As well as any other planned out method.
Also, if you're 100% committed to dying to the point you attempt suicide, you're not gonna think "oh it might not succeed so I won't get rid of my stuff". Someone that wants to die will make sure the likelihood of their attempt succeeding is high. So I don't understand your point. Not getting rid of your stuff because your attempt might not succeed seems weird to me... like you're not sure of what you're doing or doing it out of impulsiveness.

I want to avoid a way of no return move. (This is most likely what my life will end like.) However as long as I am in the position to avoid that I don't do something like that. And my destroyed smartphone would pretty much put me into rage. WTF. I know it sounds insane. But I really fear poverty and a phone costs a lot of money.

Not really. You should encrypt your hard drives if you're concerned about people trying to extract data from your PC after you ctb. Plus, It's trivially easy to completely wipe a HDD, especially if you're on Linux.

They might look around but I doubt they'd be surprised or dig very far. Plus honestly I'd want them to be able to use any decent electronics I left behind, or access things like all of my music.

A resounding NO. I have both my internal and external drives encrypted with BitLocker. My microSD on my phone is also encrypted. In my note, I specifically state to NOT go through my devices. Companies such as Microsoft and Apple will not unlock devices even in the case of a deceased family member without a valid subpoena.

All of the devices I own seem quite easy to wipe down and then they can be given away or abandoned.

I would imagine you'd have to delete your iCloud backups or whatever the Android equivalent is but it shouldn't be too hard.

If you are successful, this would leave people with useable electronics that are clean.

I'd like them to not do that, but I left some clues to help them searching my computer and hard drives if they really want that much to see what's inside. I know for sure that people need sometimes to poke their noses in private stuff of their recently lost one, so making it accessible but not that much at the same time seems like a good tradeoff for me. And it's not like I'll care about what they'll find inside when I'm dead.

They probably will, honestly. So, since I won't care when I'm gone, my plan is to leave out a notebook with all my passwords on it. I hope they get a better understanding of why I left when they look through

I just activated the option "Delete Data" at my  devices …
So all my data will be deleted after the password got typed 10 times wrong…

I don't know if I need something better than that…

Oh, I will also take the chip number out so then the message to confirm the login will never arrive to the cel(…)

Just need to check if all places requires the sms confirmation message to login…

I won't give them the option, to be honest with you. I'll destroy my computer and phone beforehand. Those closest to me will know the reasons I did it, and though they will be upset they will understand. I'm just not one to leave anything behind. The only thing I will want is for everyone to know I am gone, including the few close online friends I have and I already have someone close to me who is going to make sure that happens.

I have no family, they're all [literally, not figuratively] dead. They're the only ones I would worry about seeing what's on my computer.

I don't care if my friends look through my computer.
