Not for recovery purposes. My crisis plan is pure bullshit.

I am supposed to pet my cats and sleep when I want to die apparently. But don't worry at least there's to oh so helpful suicide hotline!

How does a piece of paper have so much power in the medical world? They don't even slightly relieve my suicidal ideation.

I haven't had to deal with those in years, but the many I did make were so helpful that I can remember a single thing I put on any of them. I would make them to appease my team and then lose the paper as soon as I was home.

My crisis plan pretty much says that I need to try distracting myself in some way, talk to others, and contact crisis line, as if any of those things magically make me less suicidal.

The only safety plan I have is disengaging the safety and pulling the trigger (metaphorical in my case).

Everything is about liability, especially in America. Mitigating or eliminating liability is the primary motivation for clinicians when it comes to decisions regarding suicidal patients.

I try to clutter my mind with the internet.
I just try to focus on meaningless things and turn off my thoughts.
It doesn't necessarily work, but sometimes it helps a little.
Alternatively, I write nonsense on this forum.

I have no other options.

LOL when I was still in a therapy program, they made me fill out a crisis plan sheet. Had things like: coping skills, who to call when I need help, what makes me happy, how to make my environment safe. Cried the whole time filling it out cause it reminded me how lonely I am and how nothing makes me happy. Therapist there kept telling me to put hotline numbers and I did so just to please them. I do remember putting my pets though on the list.

Call crisis, take hot shower, play games, pet pets, talk to friend.. I have like 6 of these and they do nothing and I TELL them nothing really works anymore but I'm forced to do one anyway. I'm so tired of it.

I wish at least something from the crisis plan helped, but it only makes things worse and annoys me 🤷‍♀️

The only thing I can remember is "pet my cat." So now I have treatment-resistant major depressive disorder, chronic suicidality, and a really well-groomed cat.
This is the best reply I've ever read on sasu ngl

Yeah. I've finally managed to get through to some members of the Crisis Team that if I'm ringing, those methods aren't working. Unfortunately, the rest haven't yet been trained to read it before speaking to me so I still go through the "go and do something you've been trying for three hours because maybe it will work this time" palaver. I think I've finally learned to not ring.

I totally forgot about how crisis plans existed. They're so useless I totally forgot the numerous I have lost somewhere. I think there were a few with call a hotline or mental health support line or whatever they're called, I think call a friend or someone was on one or two of them, taking a shower might of been one of them and I think breathing was on a few of them. I don't think I've ever looked at one of them after I got them since I knew from the beginning they were all BS.

Last positive interaction I had with the Crisis Team, they were at my house and one of them said something about needing x many coffees in the morning so I said that sounded difficult and had she heard of the Decider Skills? They burst out laughing and the other said that in the office, if they're stressed they often say things like "have a hot bath" to each other. I think some recognise that sort of thing really isn't helpful for many people, especially with complex mental health issues, and they don't even consider using them. Unfortunately for us, not everyone is as enlightened and still rigidly sticks to the one-size-fits-all approach which does more harm than good, IMHO.
