Most of my suicidal thoughts seem to only manifest at night, for some reason, usually I don't have any during the day. Does anyone else experience this?

It's actually really common for this to happen. My thoughts are worse at night, yes. During the day, most people feel more awake and have stuff to do. At night,it's dark, perhaps depressing, and you're left with your thoughts.

Watching funny tv shows can help in the short run by distracting your mind. I watch South Park and family guy type shows. It does help some. But even then I keep thinking of my rope in the basement and how I hate life in general.

If you want to talk at all,I'm here.

Mine often get worse at night, but I have them all day long, too. They're pretty much constant.

I think night might be worse because there are less distractions.

I haven't given it much thought, but I do tend to be thinking a lot more about suicide closer to midnight. It's strange how the night tends to bring out depressive feelings. I wonder why. Maybe it's the hightended sense of loneliness which causes it.

My loneliness-based feelings used to get much stronger at night, while mornings got the existential dread-based depression

Yup. Only because there are not enough distractions for me in the evening, so my mind tends to wander.

Apparently the most risky time for suicide to happen is a Monday evening between 7pm and 9pm
There's a support organisation in the UK for men that's held on a Monday evening 7 to 9. Most larger places have one it's called Andy's Man Club
Here's the link if anyone is interested...

Your mind is pretty active during the day but at night, it's time to wind down and sleep, it's quiet, you're basically alone with your thoughts. Night time was always the worst for me.

I don't think there's a time of day that my thoughts are worse. Its just constant.

For me they are more intense at daytime. At night I often forget them and my mind seems more clear/motivated for positive toughts and makes plans to fix my depression (take a walk outside first thing in the morning, exercise, eat at least 3 times, apply for a training to improve social skills, get a hobby). It just stiks to toughts tho lol.. I hear myself thinking right now; "then do the damn thing at night if that works" But when I wake up in the morning, I don't really care for the plans I made.

Mine occurs at any time and depending on the circumstances, so it is not time specific. It is more circumstance based, meaning if I had a shit event or encounter during the day, then I'll get suicidal thoughts during the day; if at night then I'd get them at night.

Earlier, I mostly had them at night, I think. Then gradually it got worse and now it's at the point where I always have those thoughts. The biggest difference is that I'm no longer distressed by those thoughts. I've accepted them and find comfort in knowing there's a way out. The urges definitely come mostly after something bad/emotional happened, though.
