Idk, I take cipralex and it has a reputation for decreasing libido, but mine increased on it, or rather, went back to normal. Probably depends on the person.

Not all of them do but a lot of them can decrease your sexual libido. Or make it unable to get an erection. plus I've noticed than when you're depressed, sex is one of the last thing you think about. I'm in physical pain all the time so the last thing I want to do is have sex.

Don't take Effexor I haven't been able to orgasm in 4 years :I

Wellbutrin has very limited sexual side effects. And it has a generic version.

I'm generally hypersexual, but this past year I've become so depressed and I'm in pain due to motility issues because of all the stress I'm under, so sex doesn't cross my mind a lot. But I'll still have it with my partner at least once a week or every other week. Back in 2008-2009 I was put on Effexor XR, and within a year or two of taking it I had to be put on Wellbutrin XL because it killed my libido. It helped bring it back though. No longer on either medications however.

With citalopram hydrochloride, just one pill, I can't ejaculate no matter if I penetrate 20 minutes non stop or masturbate until my harm is sore.

Antipsychotics are the ones that kill all libido. With antidepressants you can still do it and want it but orgasm is delayed.

Be careful. Something likes paxil is antidepressant and will greatly diminish Libido and sexual performance. Also, you can get Retrograde Ejaculation as well with it. What ever antidepressive benefits I've gotten from the paxil was cancelled out and then some because of these issues.

I know there are some that don't affect it but I can't recall which, sorry.

In general of the ones widely used, Mirtazapine, Agomelatine generally dont. Wellbutrin has a low risk of sexual side effects.

Selegine and moclobomide don't cause sexual side effects, but they are not used for reasons I absolutely don't know. Selegine increases sexuality and many and increases dopamine and testosterone.

In my opinon nearly all of the most commonly used AD's are shit and dangerous. However if it's your only hope to get out of depression and your only alternative to suicide then go for it.

I was on Lexapro before we found out I was Bipolar, that sent me into a mixed episode, but it also gave me some bad sexual side effects. Right now I'm on Lamictal, Trazodone, & Gabapentin and all has been good on that front. But I barely have the desire to do so now that I've hit an all time low.

Antidepressants with the lowest rate of sexual side effects include:

  • Bupropion (Wellbutrin XL, Wellbutrin SR, Aplenzin, Forfivo XL)
  • Mirtazapine (Remeron)
  • Vilazodone (Viibryd)
  • Vortioxetine (Trintellix)

Have you tried Kratom? It can help with pain and depression. It didn't work for me, but I have seen reports of it being life-changing. There are scare stories about it, but you can use it sensibly to avoid tolerance by cycling it. I just wanted to mention it, just in case it can help you. I have tried a million natural remedies the past year - right now something seems to be working. I'll post my thank you to Sensei in a moment for that. I don't know if this will last, but for now it is much better.
Re sexual side effects, I tried Vortioxetine for 3 months. Not sure what if anything it did for my depression - I wanted to jump in the river and off bridges etc, constant suicidal thoughts - on the med and off it. But in terms of sexual side effects, it made it very difficult to orgasm during sex. The only way I could still orgasm and enjoy sex was by adding weed.

Weirdly, I had two weeks of happiness on a nootropic, Polygala Tenuifoila (without any meds) and during that time, the sex I had was the best I ever had. Because I have always been depressed, I had no idea how much better sex was when I was happy. It was quite amazing. Then the Polygala Tenuifoila stopped working for me.

Sigh.

I seem to be having some luck again with natural remedies though (I will go back to the dreaded meds if I have to, but am taking a break to try a few last natural remedies). I will post an update on that under Sensei's thread on natural remedies.

Well, my therapist took my Anafranil off and sexual problems are over, everything became as before although I have been taking two meds. I´m 48 yo and I quite happy with my sexual life now. Problems disappears with depression and pills.

A lot of antidepressants list sexual problems as a possible side effect. But there are a few things to keep in mind:

- DEPRESSION itself causes loss of libido and sexual problems. That's a major symptom.

- Just because it can happen, doesn't mean it will happen.

- Everyone is different, and not every medication effects every person the same way. One person might experience negative effects, while another might experience the total opposite.

I have read and heard that anti-depressants can cause sexual problems. However I haven't experienced any myself.

My libido is completely crushed. I'm not sure if it's the meds or the depression. It's just gone :-(

Try Sarcosine. See the reviews online.

I tried Trintrellex. Meant to have less sexual side effects. It was very hard to come (I'm female fyi). If it had helped my depression, I'd have lived with it. But it's probably worse for men not to be able to come. I found weed would help me though to have more pleasure, even on medication.

Moclobemide, Wellbrutin not meant to have sexual side effects. Erm opiods
