Digital food scale counts pan grams

I got my digital scale and I put my pan on it I expected it to be 0 and but it counts the pan grams, so if I add sn to the pan I don't know the exact grams.

Can I just put sn on my digital food scale without a pan?

press the zero or tare button once you put the pan, then put the sn after its zeroed out

you could just weight the pan and subtract it from the SN

Most of them is you have something on it when you turn it on , it will start at zero. The tare option works also.
