Different SN?

I am curious, I understand that SN is Nitrite. But would it also be possible to do this with Nitrate? I know it's less lethal and such but if you figured out the calculations and everything could you use the other SN?

I'm not sure either that's why I asked. Because technically all salt at a high enough dose is lethal to humans, living things, etc…

There have been posts in which nitrate was used and it didn't work
