hello SaSu, after a few rounds of testing w/ my setup, i think it's finally time to share to see what y'all think. my date's coming up in about a week, so i'd preferably like to get some tips/advice asap.
some key points:
-rope is a double-braided polyester. a little on the thicker side, being 1/2 in. (12.7 mm). tensile strength is 8000 lbs (i'm 143 lbs). it's unfortunately pretty stiff, so it's a pain in the ass to tie knots with it at the moment :,)
-i plan on using padding and lubricant, but i'm not exactly sure what to choose. i'm thinking maybe a small towel for the padding, and either soap or conditioner/lotion for the lube (i don't have a sufficient supply of petroleum jelly)
-using an arbor knot for the noose, and a snuggle hitch for the anchor (15 lb dumbbell). lmk if i should change the anchor knot to something else (like an anchor hitch)
like i've said, i've already tested this setup before. i put a broom around the noose; jumped and swung on it several times. even gave it a tug. no creaking/straining noises that could be heard, so looks like it could hold my weight pretty well.
still, i have concerns regarding the height and strength of the door. the door's only 7 ft and i'm 5'3. my door also wasn't able to close all the way, so there's risk of the door popping open or the hinges possibly breaking. but at the same time, the rope seems secured in its place, and didn't really slide anywhere when i tested it. still, i'm not too convinced... (i could be overthinking this, but idk)
i was going to use my actual room door, which has a proper doorframe and doorknob, but i noticed that it had the same issue as with my closet door, and can only close as best as the other door can. forcing it to close shut only forces the door at an uneven angle, which the hinges are more likely to break in this case. hence i'm going with the doors in my closet for better privacy when i ctb.
that being said, here's photos of my setup (as well as padding + lube that i'm considering to use). lmk if there should be any modifications to be made, as well as suggestions for padding and lubricant. thanks <3
