Have the news on TV on and all I hear is them talking about how we are sending up a space shuttle in about an hour. I've always struggled with whether space exploration should really be a priority or if it's just a huge waste of money in this country.

space missions are actually generally a minuscule allocation of national resources; shit like military expenditure is orders of magnitude larger and that is one of the main issues there now lol

i was just looking at a piechart of federal funding allocation and it's 4 years old so basically irrelevant right now, but still—healthcare was the single largest by grouping.
