Thank you guys for the replies! I was very hesitant about getting the medication because of inevitable withdrawal symptoms but now I'm less worried. I've read so many negative effects people got from taking anti depressants and it scared me. I'll make sure to do my research on this!

The main problem I think is that I'm pretty emotionally unstable, sometimes it's hard to talk to people because I'm always on the brink of tears. It's very painful. I think getting medication is the best option for me right now. I'll go through withdrawal but as long as I can no longer go through as much pain as a normally go through then I think it's worth it. I've been going through this for majority of my life so anything to elevate it is heaven on earth!

I'm gonna try for February or as soon as possible!

I'm glad you are less worried! :-) I'm not sure what they will prescribe for you but my experience over here in the UK is that they may prescribe you a SSRI anti depressant. And potentially if they are concerned about the side effects as you start it, possibly something like diazepam. You have had some concerns though, so if they don't offer you something like diazepam, I would suggest raising it and telling them that you have found out that an SSRI can cause your symptoms to worsen to begin with. Of course doing so is up to you but from my experience I would recommend it.

I don't think SSRI meds work for me personally, either they make me less stable for a while then I end up feeling about the same. So if after a reasonable period you haven't noticed any improvement, go back to the doc and tell them. Sometimes they might try to persuade you to wait it out. If you really don't want to then push to try and get a different med.

If you get some of the very rare side effects, eg extreme agitation, suicidal thoughts, strange beliefs, or hallucinations, call a doctor immediately! It could be a sign of a more serious condition.

I really hope you will get the right help and meds and your mood will elevate! You always have these forums for support so make use of them if you need to! :-)
