• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

@Jorvak here this is more accurate to what our discussion was about. Also the polls were all fucked up over on that other thread. Might as well just restart.

Everyone be civil, okay? We're all on the same side being fucked up in the mental brain lobes, so treat each other with kindness and respect. These can be hot-button issues, so if you don't think you can handle it, then please don't post. And it can be emotionally taxing as well, so if you're not in a good headspace maybe just give it a bit. :) It's all love here.

This seems like a fake dichotomy. With democracy, you mean a liberal democracy? With communism, you mean a URRSlike dictadorship? Why not a socialist democracy? I feel like there's a middle point between being a slave to Jeff Bezos and an imperialistic and corrupt """dictatorship of the proletariat"""

Communism is based on an utopic idea of man, it is wishful thinking but in the end nature is always right.
The same with democracy, there are alphas and those who are glad to follow.
Only social darwinism, neo liberalism comes close to a relistic idea of man.

i used to be an "optimistic anarchist"

so my ideal was like a mix of communism with direct democracy, but several political events and readings made me into a "pessimistic anarchist"

i fear that democracy (even direct) will lead to dictatorship of the majority, or dictatorship of a bureaucratic minority, like many (maybe every) kind of formal organization of society

i fear that "libertarian communism" will be too hard to coordinate, and that the demands of coordination will lead to increased control

i have a hard time thinking about "ideal" social organizations (maybe i'm too asocial/antisocial), even tho "non-organization" is unstable and frankly fearful too, but i crave freedom and i despise control, especially control of the outcasts (which i'm part of), i tend to link many political theories with some variations of eugenism (softer on some sides i guess)

i still consider myself an anarchist so to answer the question of the thread i will favor communism but only if it's not dictatorial (which is rare)

also, i think other variables are at play, like the difference between possible and desirable, the difference between the form (let's say communism) and the content (what kind of life is desirable, a better "quantitative" equality, or a qualitative change in how's life is lived)

There does seem to be a distinct lack of information in the poll. Are you comparing US democracy to USSR communism? An idealized form of communism to an idealized form of democracy? Is the democracy/republic capitalist or more socialist leaning? Has the communist side devolved into authoritarian ideological purism? What time period are we comparing? Pre-industrial democratic states are pretty different from modern information age democracies. Neither of these systems/ideologies can exist in a vacuum. Why are we comparing a system of government with a material ideology?

Any answers to the poll you get without providing substantially more context will be kneejerk reactions based on propaganda or indoctrination. You will gain no value to any discussion, nevermind the inherent bias of posting the poll on a site like this.

Aha, never mind you guys. Clearly, much too tedious of a question.

We only want the minimum necessary context to answer the question posed by the poll in a meaningful way. Even just a short summary of the discussion you had would help. An honest, civil request. But it seems like it's too tedious for you to explain the question. Or perhaps you were trying to get a specific outcome by posing the question in a leading way? There's nothing wrong with that, professional pollsters do it all the time.
