A similar thing happened to me in 2004. I changed from the UCLA student insurance to Medi-Cal (California Medicaid). However, UCLA Medical Center (where my therapist was based) did not accept Medi-Cal. My therapist told me that she had to specifically request from her supervisors a final appointment for me so that we could wrap things up a bit less abruptly. I was extremely upset. I tried to find a therapist that would accept Medi-Cal, but then I would clam up during the session. I did not want to discuss anything till my files from UCLA Medical Center arrived. I expected that the new therapist would read the files and then ask me questions. The new therapist would have none of that and dismissed me after a couple of sessions. Ouch! I did not see any mental health professional for the next two years, after a priest told me that I did not need spiritual direction: I needed a psychiatrist. I had been getting prescriptions for antidepressants and anti-psychotic medication from my GP (and I was taking the meds every day), but I suspected that I needed a change in medication.
Anyway... I am so sorry for your situation. It is not your therapist's fault that you are being dismissed, I assume. <<Big, gentle hug>> if you want it.
