Tired of being awake all night or just for a couple of hours, have to take lots of benzos to help me out, on my last appointment last week doctor suggested olanzapine, worked for two nights only. Now about to take 4 ambien despite the 7 I just took to sleep and only slept 3 hours. Insomnia at its best! So fed up!

The struggle is real. It's terrible when there's nothing that truly helps with insomnia. Meds don't work for me, either. And even if sleeping meds do work, they wear off so damn quickly, and then you're right back where you started. It's discouraging.
I hope that the extra Ambien is enough to help you sleep.

Sorry Sherri
Unfortunately you probably know that but ambien in the long run is not the answer, it'll make things worse
I try to take sleeping pills max twice a week. Maybe you can see a center which is specialised in sleep?
They can probably help you. I've never been there but it could be interesting.
Otherwise antihistamine, melatonin are also alternatives - but you've probably tried that many times
My doctor suggested be stuff like olanzapine too a few years ago but finally I've never tried
Some physical activities? Same, you've probably already tried or you can't.
No the sleep center could be the most interesting if you can

It's really a shame the olanzapine only helped for two nights. Antipsychotics generally snow people. Has the doctor discussed any other options? I'm sorry they made the empty promise that you'll be "feeling better", no professional should promise anything.

Quetiapine which I told him I'm not Taken either, so even he said well I'm running out of options here Sherri. Took quetiapine for two nights , had the worst vivid nightmares toy can imagine, and they felt so real I would up up screaming and crying.

Me too.And to make things worse the next door "neighbor" in the next apartment is a 50 year old male but acts like a 4 year old and plays dumb loud thumping "music" at all hours. just sounds like a jackhammer. Wasn't there a medieval torture like that ? I have problems sleeping anyway but this makes it worse.

Your neighbour is being selfish.
I have this neighbour they are a mother and son. The mother would be shouting at the son in 5.00am or 7.00m. The woman is always is shouting bloody hell
The walls are thick in my house so we can hear it.

Hey Sherri, so sorry you are in the insomnia club. I take top dose of Olanzapine and my team don't understand why that plus other meds don't touch me. It's torture. I hope you got some relief with the ambien. I don't have any good suggestions but wanted to let you know you're not alone. Rant away

I hate not being able to sleep I have tried prescibed medication and it's not worked, I have stopped taking drugs and vitamins and it's taken me a little while going to bed when I'm tired and sleeping but when I wake up after a couple of hours not getting up again even when I'm not sleepy, I noticed I do nod off again could be a few hours or not at all but I have noticed a change now hopefully I can sleep normal hours rather than staying awake for 24 hours. I have taken my vitamins this morning as I got up at 7am so I had a good 5 hours so hopefully I will have more energy today to do a few chores.
What kills me is when I have eaten and the central heating comes on it is so hard to stay awake so I get some cold air to keep me awake.
Not being able to sleep makes everything so much worse. Have you tried Imovane or Lunesta? I don't know if they work the same way and they are addictive and shouldn't be used for longer than 4 weeks, but whatever does the trick right? Good luck, I hope you get the rest you need and deserve

Sorry if I was unhelpful and I'm so sorry you're going through such a shitty situation. I wasn't sure if switching up the medicine helps at all, as you've clearly built up a lot of tolerance to ambien, but you probably know much better than I do.

Have you already tried mirtazapin (if you live in the US) or mianserin (if you live in Europe)? Both are antidepressants, very useful for insomnia.
They're quite hard to leave, but nothing compared to sleeping pills.

Sherri I'm so sorry to hear this! I have the same problem. Part of it is from looking as screens constantly in my case.
I only get a few hours of sleep at most, about 3 or 4 hours. I'm putting myself on a regimen of melatonin at the same time every night and making sure it's completely dark without screens where I sleep to see if that helps.
I wish I had the answer for you. I know it's terrible and it's a common problem for the suicidal. The two go hand in hand.
I don't tell anyone that I have insomnia because I know no drugs would work. at first I hoped it would kill me from insomnia. and then I'm not interested in having it because soon ctb
