I know that calling the hotline they can ping your location but what if you use the chat option instead? You don't have to give a phone number and you can put a fake zip code

you probably need a VPN and use something to hide your browser useragent, i once wrote to suicide hotline e-chat while under VPN and nothing happened even tho nobody answered as well. aslo using a different browser is highly advisable or clean cookies and history at least

I hope you can find a way, as your seeking help. Just be careful. I might be agreeable to getting "help", if I could do so without fear of discovery. Much love to you.

They can trace your IP address. You can try using a VPN, but sometimes they can can leak.

Thanks. I talked to them on chat a few days ago and asked if the chat is confidential. They said 100% confidential yes. It was really difficult but I eventually told her my plans in a few days and I was highly considering. I really needed to get it off my chest. They were really helpful and kind. I had horrendous experiences with the hotline before. I used the new hotline 889 (idk if it's only for the US) tho So maybe this one is different. I was just reading now that they only try to find ur location if your life is in immediate danger. Like if you are going to that day. But I guess it also depends ln the person who responds also. It's hard to known.
Also I found that forced hospitalization 72 hold can actually increase suicide rates after your released and other countries instead of the US don't do it because of this.
This is the article i just found

Does private browsing do the same thing?

I suppouse calling pings it, but it wouldn't be precise enough to get your address, if that's what you're conserned about. When you call 112/911 you still have to tell where you are, if the technology was there I think they would be using it.

I never called to those numbers. They actually help? It would be nice have someone to talk to

Only the 889 did for me. It started in 2022. The old suicide hotline didn't. What I mean by help is they seemed to actually care surprising. The old hotline wasn't like that. I called the old hotline twice in my life and both times were terrible

No. You would want to use a VPN. The private browsing only hides your browsing history on your device if someone was looking at it. It doesn't hide your browsing history or location from your ISP. With a VPN, your ISP doesn't know your real location or what sites you are looking at.

These days there is nothing they can't do or have access to. There is absolutely no privacy anywhere.

You can call them and talk to them. They would only call EMS on you if you tell them you are suicidal and have a plan. I have called hotlines before. How helpful they are depends on who answers when you call. Some of the counselors are very nice and some aren't. They will talk to you about anything you want. They can connect you to local resources if you tell them what kind of help you need.

Do they have a chat option? You could try. I think they are only bad because some of them have never been suicidal or they see it as a job. I assume it's one of those things that might be a hit or miss unfortunately. I think the difference was the old hotline in the US was volunteers so you never know who you'll get but I think the new line is counselors (at least that's what it says)

Crisistextline oes call EMS on people (so-called "active rescues"). If you admit to having an imminent suicide plan the conversation gets flagged. If you can't or won't say that you can stay " safe" they contact EMS. They do warn you they're going to call so you can say just say you're safe if it gets to that point. Of course if you deny having an imminent suicide plan (or thoughts period) there's no danger.

Agreed. I don't think a call from a cell would tell them your exact location. I was watching a 911 reality show and the operator told the caller she was going to send a link to their cell phone. Clicking on the link would tell them the exact location.

I've wondered, if I take SN in a secluded area: Is it possible if I'm not found for a couple weeks (or perhaps even if animals get to me), then the cause of death will be impossible to identify?

It would be pre-dissolved in a water bottle and I'd have no other pill bottles around.

If there are still tissues that can be tested, I think SN could still be identified as the COD.

I've always wondered this about the hotlines because I've read stories here of people who have called and have had the cops show up on them. I personally curious if I called someone after I took SN and didn't tell them where I was (plan to be at a hotel) if they would be able to call the cops/ems and find me...

Yes, they can trace the call. The hotline will call the police. and give them your phone number. The police will call your service provider and tell them it is an emergency and ask for the name on the account. Your service provider will give them the name on the account, and they will ping the phone and tell the police where the call was made from. With the newer phones, they will be able to ping your location within 9 or 10 feet.

This is true but from my experience it takes hours. Not sure how it would be if they knew that you actually took poison or something.
I also called from *67 but that didn't do anything.
