• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I'm really not doing well. I would like to fix my mental health, but I feel as if I have so many hurdles that it's just impossible to overcome. If I take myself to the emergency room will they be able to provide any help? I haven't been able to get into any form of counseling or medication. Would they provide me with any help or would I just be stuck in a worse hell because of my mental state?

Honestly it really depends on the hospital. I went to a hospital and they kept me for a bit. A different hospital said I could go a referred me to places. I do know it's a good tally on them not keeping you if you go there willingly and are there for help and don't pose a threat to yourself. It's not certain however.

What country are you in? Do you have insurance or is there health care for everyone?

they can possibly help with other stuff too including depressions. i was askijg what country since resources vary based on country

If you have never tried medication or therapy before, you should definitely try it before you decide to commit suicide. Suicide is always an option, also at another time, but it will be final.

It took me decades until things got better, but I also met many, many people for whom it worked much faster and better. Maybe you're one of them?!

The emergency room is always an option if you are so acutely ill that you think you are at risk of dying or being tested for serious harm. However, in the emergency room they cannot offer in-depth advice or treatment. That means they either send you home and tell you to find a psychiatrist or psychologist as an outpatient or you are admitted as an inpatient. Depending on how dramatic you make it. Inpatient is sometimes difficult, but sometimes it's better than nothing, especially if you've never had help for your mental health before.

Alternatively, contact an advisory service in your country and let them help you find suitable help. It's really worth trying. And if the first psychologist is stupid, try another one. Or another one. Of course there are bad ones too. But if you find a good one, it can help enormously. I've experienced it with many people.

Be brave and try it :-)

Having been in the ER twice for mental health, they're only there to "stabilize" you. You generally won't get crisis counciling or medication there, but they will almost definitely evaluate your mental health and suicide scale. If you prove you are actively suicidal with a plan, they'll send to a mental health hospital where you are further stabilized with medication, counciling, and basic activities.

Getting admitted for thoughts alone is difficult, and I've been told I wasn't qualified for inpatient because I wasn't actively suicidal or hurting myself, even though I had fresh SH marks.

If admitted, those hospitals are meant to keep you physically safe and away from crisis, and not intended to quickly recover from mental illness in a short period of time.

Should you not be in crisis, you can discuss this with your primary care physician who can refer you to the right person to help (therapist, psychiatrist, etc.). This depends on the country though.
