No, it is not.
There's a lot more factors than that. It depends what caliber air rifle and somewhat more importantly the actual muzzle energy you have leaving the barrel. If it's a .177 or below I wouldn't recommend it, even if you have a very powerful air rifle. A .22 is strong enough to pierce the front of the skull, however may run out of velocity and ricochet inside your head.

I would also stay away from air pistols as they have a lot less velocity at the same caliber as rifles.

If you want a 95% success rate or higher, I'd personally use a .30 caliber air rifle with no less than 800 feet per second, and a muzzle energy of around 215 foot pounds.
To some extent your ammo type and weight do matter. Hollow points are the best for soft tissue damage, and for weight I'd recommend no less than 150 grains.

People tend to mistake air rifles for BB guns a lot, so you might have a lot of people who don't consider it a viable option. Often air guns are less regulated and easier to obtain than fire arms, and are typically much cheaper, even towards the higher end rifles.

I don't have any exact rifles to recommend to you, nor do I think it's really ethical if I were to do that. If your own model doesn't meet these specifications I don't think you should use this method.

Also note, it matters a lot where you actually shoot yourself. There should be a mega thread somewhere here about suicide via firearms if you really want to know the details.

True, and while there are people who died from being shot by BB guns, pellet guns, and similar weapons, it is oftenly unreliable and more prone for failure and severe injury. Therefore, it is better to have more reliability especially if one only has one shot (figuratively and literally speaking) to get it right.

We aren't talking about the same weapons here then. The specifications I've laid out previously are more than enough to CTB with.

Ehhhh..... Well... I certainly wouldn't recommend or even suggest any type of air gun, whether it be a bb or pellet. Are they capable ..... do they kill numerous people , w/ e.... Sure they are and do, they can do it..... But I'd rather Not take the risk due to their essential size and weight compared to actual ( rimfire, rifles, shotguns, w/e.... ) which are Much more likely to seal the deal. ( Mine is a 7mm-08 , or... a 20 / 12 ga) Very comfortable and confident with all 3 to Absolutely put my lights Out.

I wish you the best in whatever may happen, Please wait or buy something bigger in nature if possible ? please ?

Godspeed. - ♥

@rushia124 how old are you?
I was wondering the same thing because of his writing style. Taking this opportunity, I would like to ask something, and that is why the age limit here is 18. Is it for legal reasons or is there actually a consensus that young people are not able to decide for themselves. Thank you in advance.
