Discussion bruise from hanging attempt?

Likely. At the very least you'd get marks from the rope that last for a few days even if it doesn't bruise.

I did. I used an exercise band and had a nasty bruise.

I got, not a bruise but a red line. I was also using a thinish rope and this was avoided when I tried again with a towl to cushon around the belt.

Did the bruising vanish over time or were you permanently scarred? This what concerns me most about hanging,although many say it is the quickest method.

Yes! I have seen 1 hanging attempts from a Psych Ward. An 18 year old girl had horizontal lines 2 inch lines around her neck which dissipated gradually over a 5 day period. She also had a slight raspy voice.
