Hi everyone.Let's discuss one suicide method that was shown in Breaking Bad in season 5 episode 2.
After the assassination of Fring, the DEA begins investigating Madrigal Electromotive. In Hannover, Germany, when the police arrive to question him about his relationship with Gus Fring, Peter commits suicide by sticking one end of an automated external defibrillator in his mouth and the other over his heart. The electric current flows, and Schuler slumps onto the floor of the bathroom, dead.

Do you think this method is real?
And if it is real, will it be as quick and painless as it was shown in the episode?

They will not fire unless they detect a bad heart rhythm. Hollywood in action...

They intentionally falsify parts in media, this would probably be no different. Hell, in the case of BB they did it with the acid bath too.

There is not much difference between fibrillation and asystole, neither does the heart pump blood. In fibrillation, the heart muscles are still non-functional, although they are contracting. Such a device is used in cardiac surgery to intentionally induce fibrillation. During this procedure, the patient is unconscious. So if you use this device while someone is conscious, the electric current can be painful. In cases of persistent tachycardia (such as SVT), cardioversion with an electric current is used. As far as I know, this procedure is also done with sedation. If you ignore the pain caused by the electric current, it can present a rapid death with unconsciousness in seconds. But remember, the electric current you give at a random time will not trigger fibrillation. In particular, it must be applied in a certain period.

Actually, I'm not, but I like to read about health. I have had SVT attacks many times. This device we saw in Breaking Bad is not a defibrillator. The exact opposite. It is used to induce fibrillation. If I remember correctly, an electric current on the T wave triggers fibrillation. It would be an ideal method of CTB if the electric current delivered was not painful and the fibrillation itself was not bothersome.
