  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

Break a mirror with a punch. Has anyone done this and how was it? I'm just managing to deal with my feelings and emotions, punching walls, irons etc ... Whenever possible I turn my sadness into anger, and it almost always helps.

I haven't broken any mirrors but I did bought a punching bag and took out all of my anger on it.

It's cheaper than breaking your own stuff lol

I used a hammer on a full length mirror once. There is something nice about seeing your reflection shatter into many small fragments, where once it was a solid, unchanging whole. The smashing sound is good too.

Mind the shards of glass though - I ended up with bloody fingers cleaning up the mess...

I didn't break it with a punch, I hit my elbow into it by accident. It really sucks breaking a mirror on carpet, because the tiny glass shards are hard to vacuum up. Otherwise, it's no different than breaking any other type of pane glass.

It's been said that breaking a mirror brings seven years of bad luck. Not that I believe in such old wive's tales, but why test it out when things are bad enough already?

About 20 years ago I found a fantastic mirror at a flea market. It had a 2 color screen printed image of a 1930s rocket on an alien landscape. Blue and orange. It was wonderfully tacky and awesome.
I didn't punch it, but it was raining as I got home with it, and as I was opening the door to my house it slipped from my grip, broke into shards as it fell, and the biggest heaviest piece slit my wrist wide open. I thought it was ironic, because I didn't want to die at that time. Things were pretty good then.
Even as I was in a mild panic trying to stop the bleeding and decide if I needed to go get stitches, I was really pissed that I broke the best mirror I'd ever seen just an hour after I'd bought it.

Only remotely related to the topic, but it reminded me of that.
