For those with psychiatric illnesses, do you guys get "brain frog" from it ? Aka : difficulty to concentrate, shorten span of attention, less powerful executive functions (decreased ability to solve problems), weakened "working memory" (ability to jungle with informations at more than once), short-term memory problems.

Talking with members here, I was surprised to see that you could get it from conditions such as Depression, chronic Anxiety, ptsd, etc.. and not only from brain inflammation diseases like psychosis.
If you do, what condition does it stem from ? and how has it affected your life ?

For me, it's the main reason in wanting to ctb. I don't care about the depression, the horrible mood swings, the meds side effects or the low stamina. What's really bugging me is the loss of a great part of my intellectual faculties post-illness. Intelligence is what defines a great part of our personality, and losing it equates to losing part of your identity and with it life opportunities such as work promotions and getting to have new social interactions.
I had a great brain I was proud of, and right now life is all about grieving those capacities that are gone :/

Fuck this.

I'm only at 10% of my true depressive power, the real brain fog will come from cerebral hypoxia. :sunglasses:

I do not see myself as 'mentally ill'. I see being depressed as a rational response to my circumstances. I do think I have brain fog, and this has gotten worse over the years as thoughts of ctb have increased. I have never had an ability to concentrate well and I have always had very low intelligence. I have a very bad memory. I am also extremely tired all the time which makes it worse.

Brain fog = blood flow taken by fear part of brain from executive/concentration region. Look @ Irene Lyon Dissociation on Youtube. Anxiety videos from same also helpful. Info on how to release trauma causing blood flow/anxiety issues.

I have a few diagnoses including CPTSD. ADHD, depression and trauma can cause brain fog. It also can create memory issues. ADHD severly impacts executive functions. I was doing relatively ok with my brain issues until things took a severe turn for the worse. Doctors gave me a medication that destroyed my brain.

I am very angry about this because I questioned the med due to having issues with another med in that family. The Dr hesitated then prescribed it anyway. They are in denial about the meds being the cause however I got tinnitus a few days after I took the medication that got even worse once I stopped. And the medication made me sleep 22 hrs a day. I only took it for a few days and I still have problems staying awake. It's been almost 2 years and I never went back to normal. My cognitive abilities are shit now and I was very smart before.

I hate asshole doctors who play God without regard for their patient's longterm health.:hmph:

It's a big contributing factor to my desire to end it. It's extremely painful as you said.

I have very severe brain fog. Combination of the major depression, malnutrition, PTSD induced memory issues, sometimes psychosis, and malnutrition. I can't concentrate on anything. Reading used to be my solace but that's totally gone. It's so painful. I never had much but now I have nothing. I feel really bad for you because it sounds like you really did have something. How brutal to have that taken. Conversing is very unpleasant and a huge strain and it has made working a monumental struggle. The only thing I want to do is lay in bed (thanks insomnia!). But I have to work.

Why do you imply brain fog is permanent? If you manage to treat your illness adequately, the fog should go away. At least I have brain fog when Im really depressed but then it goes away when I'm better
