It can happen when the tree is old/dead or if there was previous damage I guess.I biked another 8.5km to relax in the evening. Passed the same place in the forest as earlier... a big branch has broken off a tree and was blocking the way... imagining that it has simply dropped onto the path even without a storm is slightly frightening...

Far from it! Just trying to get into shape a bit. It was a short ride, really. I used to do 20km when I was in shape. But now I'm also doing it without haste. Which is progress. It can happen when the tree is old/dead or if there was previous damage I guess.
Also, are you a professional cyclist or something?
