I don't doubt that there are pro-lifers here as well as journalists and law enforcement. However, I don't see why people should be pressured into providing proof of welfare checks. How could they provide sufficient proof without running the risk of doxing themselves?
I certainly wouldn't have provided proof with the IC SN checks years back. I wouldn't have had any- come to think of it... 'Excuse me officer, my internet pals are
never going to believe this! Would you help me out and pose for a selfie please?' It's frightening to get a welfare check. The last thing on your mind is collecting evidence to prove it was true to people here.
That's not to say you might not be right but I've seen some pretty aggressive posts towards reported checks. I just feel bad for them- if they are genuine. This may be the only place they can talk about them. They may not wish to let family and friends know. To come here and be scrutinized or called out for lieing has to feel awful. Maybe the reason that poster deleted their post because they were tired of all the questions and doubts.
Is it my understanding you think
all the recent reported DMC checks are fake? (Mostly coming from the UK.) Have you bought from them? I suppose a part of me is just waiting for the prominant naysayers to get a check. What proof would you provide that your claim was legitimate?
Really though- if
any of the checks are real- I think it's a good fore warning to people. I was actually grateful that my check didn't come out the blue. So many people had reported them by then, I was prepared more or less in what I intended to say.
Really- buying SN from anyone now does run the risk. It's not to say a check is inevitable but, it is possible. It seems naive not to consider the possibility. It's becoming a greater known substance in the use of suicide. Of course countries worldwide will be doing more to crack down on it.
Plus, reports may sound odd. Not all checks run the same way. Some people had their doors kicked in for the IC checks! My check was more cilvil thankfully. For those checks, the officers were very ill informed. Claiming it was a kit I'd bought. Claiming an anonymous person had called it in- when they were triggered by the arrest of Kenneth Law. They kept on getting it confused with NitrAte. One other reason a report may sound odd could be because the officers are ill informed and the whole thing becomes very confused.
While I agree we should be vigilant of people pretending to be something they're not for their own agenda, I think it's more important to be a supportive community here. So, I agree. If we do have doubts, I think we need to present them in a kind way while still being supportive.
I understand where @deathwish is coming from, but I swear I'm not lying. I only posted because it shocked me that I got one because I hadn't seen a case for the U.S.
In addition, upon more research I saw that there was a recent regulation in my state regarding SN. Therefore, I took my post down due to its uniqueness.
For what it's worth, I believe you. While I also see the need to be vigilant on the internet and that some people post false information for their own agenda, I also find it weird how forcefully people here defend SN. So much so that they attack users who post about failed attempts and welfair checks. Possibly some are fake but surely, some are true. The IC SN checks were real- I had one! Why is it so impossible it wouldn't be happening again?
The more useful thing is surely to work out what the commonalities are between the people who have had checks? If DMC are still operating, then it's different to IC. It's not because he's been arrested presumably. However, didn't these checks begin when the site went down or changed? Maybe that's something to do with it. Is it the postal service flagging packages? Is it the payment method? By knowing that information, members can predict better the likelihood of getting a check themselves.
Also, surely it's worth considering the possibility of a check when ordering SN. It
is possible I imagine for anyone. It's a substance authorities are becoming more aware of.
I suspect that attacking members for posting their experiences will put some people off reporting them. Which will mean if/ when the checks (possibly) increase to more people being affected- it will come as a shock. Personally, I'd prefer to hear the rumblings they were starting to happen but, each to their own.
