Sorry to start a new thread on this, but some of the SN threads are getting very long and difficult to negotiate a way through.

I'm getting really confused about a good, reliable benzo to use with the SN process. In another thread on SN, Diazepam wasn't advised because "diazepam is only used for seizures and cannot reverse the build-up of MetHb in the blood which is what kills you by depriving your body of oxygen". Well, I have Diazepam, so should I be replacing it with a different benzo? If so, which would you recommend?

The PPEH mentions nothing about a benzo - it's only via this forum that I've picked up on the advisability of this.

And forgive me, but if it's possible to keep the advice quite jargon-free, I'd appreciate it - I'm really quite new to benzos.

All benzo's work in roughly the same way by targeting the GABA receptors in the brain, like alcohol does. I don't see any type of anxiolytic type (not hypnotic) would be better or worse to use for any method although quantity of dose will effect your 'feelings'. The half life of diaz is the longest, alprazolam (xanax) the shortest.

The thing I see time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time again...is people saying they are going to take their benzo's 20-30 minutes before doing......whatever

Pointless.

If you want any kind of anxiety relief from what you are about to do then take your benzos 2hrs before, on an empty stomach. Even 3hrs before. Then they'll have been absorbed properly and working.
You will not fall over like a tranquilized rhino shot in the ass with a dart by taking them early unless you take a stupid dose.

And there is no such thing as a fast acting benzo, unless injected.
There are short acting and long acting but no fast acting ones.

All benzo pills will vary in the time it takes on an empty stomach for them to kick in (begin NOT maximise), from 30 to 90 mins.
Don't assume you're a 30'person as you might well be a 90'er.

Lorazeam/ativan is a slower absorbing pill than other benzo's and 60-120 mins is its range to begin working. Assume 120 or 180 mins to be sure, if using those.

Adding alcohol increases the power of both the benzo and the amount of alcohol.
Timings then cannot be relied on. But you certainly won't be able to speed up the minimal onset of benzo action of 30 mins and it'll likely still take much longer than 30.

Hey I thought the idea of taking benzos was to take a huge dose of diazepam, for example, to knock you unconscious while the SN takes action rather than just for anxiety. At least that's why its included in most other cocktails right?
