My question is simple...if I take at least 30 milligrams of Ativan, washed down with a bottle of wine, will that kill me? Or would I get sick and throw it all back up? Would it be a painful death?

Don't recommend. These medications are specifically designed not to kill. Long gone are the days of just swallowing pills to die (unless you're lucky enough to get assisted euthanasia). Most likely you'd either vomit or pass out before getting everything down, and have organ damage to boot. Wouldn't do this ❤️

A friend took everything in her house and it was copious amounts. She survived, woke up days later to a trashed house, vomit everywhere. She didn't even go to hospital.

Sounds about right. If she had a change of heart and is trying her hand at recovery I recommend she get some blood work done to see if her liver and kidneys are ok.

Just like @PrincessInWhite said:
Ativan is extremely difficult to overdose on. Those days are long gone.
The LD50 (lethal dose on average) for Ativan is around 2000 mg per kg of body weight.

You would throw up well before even reaching that point (potentially inhale some of your own vomit and suffocate from that).

What can also happen (and I can tell you that from personal experience) is that you are so out of it that your reflexes are subdued by the drug. You can seriously injure yourself by unconsciously laying on one side, blocking blood flow in and out of your arm for example, for an extended period of time.
If you are unable to feel your arm tingling and move your position, you'll eventually get something called "compartment syndrome".

That's extremely painful and can lead to longtime physical disability.
