Behind the ear

Is aiming behind the ear with a 12 guage shotgun a good idea? Where is the correct placement for side of the head?

Above the ear would be better but it's a shotgun so it's going to destroy your head regardless.

If I get the riot shotgun it should be short enough to do side of the head.
