I see a lot of teenagers, going with this ideology of the blackpill, bullshit like that, it's funny how this generation of kids has somehow prioritized something as superficial as looks, over their comfort, and physical health

I don't think being sad about your physical appearance is a bad thing, not having confidence is fine, but making it your whole existence? so dissapointing

imagine how empty your life must be, if all you have is a pretty smile, it's so, so useless.

give me some thoughts, do looks matter that much, or their importance is exaggerated?

to find a partner you need everything, but not just looks, no, if you're stupid and speak/behave like a weirdo, nobody will like you regardless of how you look, i assume.

I fucking hate "blackpill" content so much. Vast majority of it is teens/young adults bullying each other because they think being unattractive is a moral failing. They're so detached from reality, because irl looks don't matter that much. They can help you in certain ways ofc, but it's by no means necessary for a relationship or success. Literally when they deem someone's looks irredeemable, they basically tell them to kill themself via ropemaxxing. And ofc a lot of it ends up getting really racist too (I've seen quite a few "never mix" edits and eugh so nasty).

(random side note, but what does your profile tag mean?)

yeah I agree ideally looks shouldn't matter much or at all, but humans are wired to care about looks and society encourages it so I don't know that it'll ever change

it's just another stupid trend, or ideology developed in the last years, it's heartbreaking to see kids, around 14-15 asking for advices and such, they're supposed, or at least should try to have fun, not get insecure because some online incels made fun of them.

yes, they help, but only to a certain extent.

killing yourself over your physical appearance is...well very weird xd, but i guess everyone has their curse, or damage, but it's so so superficial, we are more than a face

profile tag, you mean my bmi? that's just something out of habit, I spent a lot of time on mpa so it grew on me to post it, sort of

probably not, it's whatever, there are bigger problems in life than a pimple or whatever

Looks should not matter at all for friends, family, or co-workers. There's just no reason why it should.

But, for significant others... romantic relationships... it is going to matter. It doesn't have to mean perfection. Some people are very particular in ways that harm them and prevent them from connecting because they are too quick to throw away an opportunity over a perceived lack of beauty/handsomeness. I think that extreme is not healthy... but we like who we like... and physical attraction is a part of it, especially at first... and while we shouldn't demand or expect or even want "perfection" in appearance... I think it is fine to have preferences, reasonable preferences. I think it is also wise to allow yourself the possibility of getting to know someone and realizing that who they actually are, and not how they look, is far more important. Beautiful jerks are useless unless you just want to use people... ugly jerks are also useless... Good people, sincere people, consistent people, someone who shares common interests and personality quirks with you AND who also offers new things for you to learn and experience and who is interested in learning and experiencing with you... these are ultimately the things that bind people together. Looks can improve when you are happy... but also all looks will fade a bit to some degree as we age. If beauty is all you have to offer, you will disappoint people later... if beauty is all you seek, you will be disappointed too.

i can't see why looks would matter outside of dating. i couldn't care less how somebody looks if we got along.

That's why I like talking to people over the internet. I know with absolute certainty that they're going to judge me for what I say, and nothing else. If I'm doing something wrong, I know that it's because of something I said, and it makes it much easier to fix. I don't have to play guessing games about what superficial characteristic might or might not be at fault. People do prejudge you for your appearance. How many times have you seen someone and judged them as creepy, threatening, or weird looking? Everyone does it, but most people aren't going to base someone's entire existence over a weird birth mark on your face, or assume that you're a terrible person because your hair isn't done perfectly. I think with the quantity of people who do think this way, I wonder if maybe body dysmorphia issues are on the rise, and that explains it.

I mean what the hell do we expect from an ideology that flattens the entire human experience down to a "one size fits all" quadrant of physical looks and gender?

People who are blackpilled are usually disillusioned by the fact that they either will never fit into their communities beauty standard and will (in their minds) therefore get rejected or fit into their communities beauty standard and get rejected anyway (for to them unknowable reasons). Neither of these are true.
Most people out there don't care about your cantal tilt or their receded maxilla and they will in fact find you weird for bringing that up.
Most women aren't Beckys or Stacys or whatever the shallow caricatures the guys peddling this ideology are named. Women are not a hive mind as far as I can tell.

The blackpill is just like any other ideology. Easily misrepresented & easily misunderstood. The word "blackpill" can easily change in meaning & connotation & for many reasons, but the underlying truths would just migrate to another word or phrase. It's logic based so it has merit. I'm not gonna claim to fully understand the specific foundation, origin, or purpose of the black pill, but from all of the older black pill advocates I've been exposed to, they defined it as as an umbrella term for a way to highlight important social patterns for social signaling. Looks being one of them. Then the others were money, status, etc. Overtime, the focus on looks took over because of the current state of the world. If this were the 1,900's, the focus would likely be more on status or money. The internet has increased the value of good looks.

I believe it's an undeniable fact that looks matter a lot. I wouldn't be on this site if they didn't. They largely determine how we're treated, who we can mate with, how much lust someone has for us, who feels comfortable around us & to what extent, etc. And of course, they're not the only important factor about rising through the social ranks. They're just arguably among the most important. It's easy to see, I don't know why so many would deny it. We're a complex species so we can value other traits we see as positive or prosperous, but looks are still among the largest determiner of our capacity to love due to the very specific complex structures that something of beauty would have to consistently adhere to or align with. If asked which one is easier to love, the sight of stool or sight of ice cream, all would probably choose the ice cream. I don't see many people loving the sight of stool even if it has no smell &/or would be safe to be around. Many would prefer the sight of ice cream because it's instinctual to do so & because of the deeper implications of possibly loving the sight of stool. Assessments like these never just stop at the surface even if our conscious capacity of them does.

There are many good examples of the black pill but film acting can be a good example of the black pill or alike. Movies have to market to wide audiences, so if there's for instance a role where romance is the theme, they don't usually like casting ugly people because the average person would rather see an attractive person. Generally, people wouldn't be able to relate to an unattractive actor as well because their minds would resist relating to them. No bitter emotional state required to see the logic behind this. If you know human nature, then this is just a natural byproduct of it. Beauty & good looks are objective for the same reason that death or disease is objective. If an older or deformed person wants to look more attractive, they just have to increase their youth or health cues, & voilà, they're a bit higher on the general looks scale. This stuff was rooted in logic before we ever were. It is part of our foundation. The largest discernible goal of life is to propagate in a way that will provide the best chance of long-term health & survival, not to give leniency to something that is sending signals of poor reproductive quality or viability. That doesn't promote long-term health of the life form. Survival is why this harsh selective system even exists in the first place.
