• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UKā€™s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

It is my ultimate wish, but would need tons of paper work, court hearing and it is mainly for people with physical terminal illness who are on their death bed not sure if they recently included the mentally ill which is still devestating.

the last time i read it the mental ill can get it but they literally have to go through every possible way to get better first to prove that youre going to die basically. i basically gave up after reading it, it was too much work and a waste of time i might as well either get better or do it myself

Would love if mental illness was included and people weren't forced to struggle first before them even considering AS.

I have more than just mental illness but I'm not sure they'd even take me.. Regardless of how much pain I suffer. Come on, Canada.. Be the true north strong and free you say you are.

Sadly, I don't live in Canada. I live in the US. To my understanding though, getting it would be very difficult based on all the criteria listed and it's designed to screen just about almost everyone out (barring the terminally ill) and while it is a step in the right direction and better than most countries, there is still much work to be done.

@Konolomn is right about this, it is generally reserved for the physically terminally ill patients, less so for mentally ill (or at least extremely, extremely difficult to get approval). I agree that there has to be more done even in Canada's assisted-dying law.

that is correct, and looks like the government is happy about seeing people hang from nooses and traumatizing people by jumping off bridges, most people who ctb by using these method are physically healthy but with unbearable mental anguish. i tried to ctb with dignity by talking to my therapist and setting MAiD (medical assistant in dying )documents but i do not qualify not in 4 decades, and with perpetual failed treatments and meds , finding peace will only be achieved through CO or Ordering SN which is banned, THIS SUCKS.... but camping with a tent and some nice charcoal sounds fantastic hope it works out peacefully

They do not see mental illness a valid reason for assisted suicide. Very sad.

There was as lower court ruling in Ontario about a year ago that opened the door to much broader interpretation that would potentially allow combined ailments, including mental illness, to be allowed. Not sure if anything happened since.
