Ashes to ashes,
Dust to dust.
We work nine till five,
Waiting for the next dopamine rush.
We thrive on cardinal pleasures,
Flourish by throwing others under the bus.
Our monotonous cycles broken only by our drugs,
But it's not so bad they say, what's all the fuss?
Study what's meaningless for a job you won't like,
Find a spouse and make more lives for us to extort.
Don't question a thing and don't let others question,
This life is so beautiful, why would you want to cut it short?
The only tragedy is in death itself,
Lives of pain and nothingness are better than none at all.
We turn a blind eye to those in pain,
Then when they're gone we finally bawl.
We go through each day on autopilot,
Trudging through our personal battlegrounds.
Camaraderie is dead, we fight alone,
Every man for himself in the pain that surrounds.
Ashes to ashes,
Dust to dust.
We work nine till five,
Waiting for the next dopamine rush.
