A ton, some may even say

Honestly, the only somewhat enjoyable aspect of alcohol is its self-destructive effects. Otherwise, it's boring and overrated.

A considerable amount a number may quote
I still don't get how people can enjoy drinking so much. Most alcoholic drinks are either trash or subpar at best. Being buzzed isn't even fun. It's boring.

I get that, my relationship with it is kinda half and half

I like the odd drink for the sake of drinking especially if I'm watching a film (4 down rn watching lost highway), but I often find myself drinking when I'm more sad than usual to try and distract me, so self destructive in nature

Idk, distraction maybe. For me that's what it often boils down to.

I honestly thought that I was going to start coping by drinking after the first time I got really drunk. I liked how destructive it was. It was alluring.

Now I just want to get more into psychedelics and maybe also try some amanita. I think that the ways in which psychedelics interact with the body is very interesting. I want to study it.

went looking for libs today for my gf. didn't find any sadly… bit too early in the season.

I'm not too well versed in the science behind it I just do drugs sometimes and am off rn. But yea I agree it's interesting, like DMT for example and how many people see the same elves, I don't get it but it's interesting.

Shrooms are really easy to get where I live since you can just purchase them from a dispensary. Part of why I decided to take cognitive neuroscience due to my interest in, not just how the brain works, but also because I'm hoping that it'll allow me to better understand how they interact with the brain. We actually discussed them quick a bit in social psych, specifically when talking about the self. Tbh, a lot of psychology is heavily intertwined with neuroscience.

Interesting stuff, I'm in the UK which is shit, very conservative with our drug laws. However I'm glad libs come out naturally every autumn, can go pick them.

What does Cognitive neuroscience involve? Excuse my naivety as I realise the subject is likely something that can't just be explained easy, but as an overall, what does It include?

I'm in Canada which makes getting your hands on certain drugs really easy. I want to get a PO box so that I can buy some lsd online.

Cognitive neuroscience involves a lot of shit revolving around different aspects of brain anatomy, how the brain works, how different regions of the brain relate to cognition, and disorders associated with impairments to function (TBIs, strokes, neurodegenerative disorders, etc). I'm honestly shit with descriptions.

It's a pain in the ass and I'm pretty sure I failed my first midterm (I barely answered quite a few of the questions on it) but it's also incredibly interesting.

Sounds like something that would go way over my heads tbh. Sounds interesting though.

i don't drink very often. i didn't drink on my 21st birthday when that happened, and i tend to drink so infrequently that it's hard to measure or give an estimate on how often i drink. it's sporadic. i can go months without having a drink or maybe i'll have a drink for a special occasion or just because i feel like it. occasionally when i'm feeling down enough i'll have some but i really don't like the taste alcoholic drinks at all unless they're so sweet you can't really taste the alcohol part. thankfully i'm a total lightweight so it doesn't take much.

if you don't mind me asking, how did it get to this point in a sense of from I assume normal drinking habits to 8-12 daily.
Tbh this is a relatively recent development but there are a number of reasons and l recognise it's unhealthy. Ultimately I'm now very much alone, the few people in my life l loved dearly have either died or deserted in recent times, principally due to ongoing health issues which cause constant pain and dysfunction and have taken away my social life, l live alone in a place l don't like, I've no real option but to continue working and whilst I'm lucky to have a sympathetic employer who allows me to work exclusively from home the effort l make in maintaining a veneer of competence and professionalism is exhausting and l feel like I'm on a hamster wheel and the only contact l have is with colleagues. When my working day stops idk what to do with myself so l have my first drink as a reward and it spirals from there.
Being buzzed isn't even fun. It's boring.
Would actually agree, the buzz with drinking in the past was that l could disinhibit enough to be socially functional, entertaining, charming even. If alcohol didn't exist l would still be a virgin, and if you think my posts are bad *now*, imagine how bad they'd be otherwise.

Used to be an alcoholic, I quit drinking when I quit my job but a normal weekend for me was two bottle of spirits and a crate of lager.
I'm honestly surprised my liver didn't fail in all those years.

i tend to go through 8-12 cans of pilsner a week and maybe throw in a couple extra beers or ciders here and there for good measure if im walking home. so not alcoholic level but i am slowly finding it hard to walk away from the shop. for example if walking home ill often feel drawn to it. how about you?
I can't really drink due to health issues but I rely heavily on marijuana

I had periods of very heavy binge drinking but I got concerned when I started feeling withdrawals and then finally stopped when I puked a little blood. 40+ days sober/abstinent now. It's a stupid drug, even less useful but more harmful than heroin.

I've recently had multiple really bad experiences with being a fool drunk, so I'm staying alcohol free for a while... Thankfully there's other stuff that don't make me act out and even feel better

Well, I went to top party schools for 7 years

1730239528397

so there were times where I drank a good bit, yeah.

Now I don't drink nearly as much, but I still enjoy it. Talking one drink, maybe three times a week on average, then occassionally a 2-3 drink day to let a little more loose.

I've got a nice liquor shelf to enjoy and make cocktails. I like a few local breweries a good bit. Also have some different korean drinks around normally (seju, magkorii (or however it's romanized), raspberry wine).

Drank a lot of beer when younger but moved on to wine and then whiskey, would easily finish a bottle of whiskey in a night, have opted 2 stay away from drinking since feelings of depression have recently developed.

Used to drink like there's no tomorrow. Even with my fast metabolism I've drank so much I didn't remember anything on the next morning. Yeah, vomiting, falling every step and having a mind of brain-damaged retard sucks, but that was quite a pleasant time, to be honest. When your body feels like falling apart, you don't have time for any mental problems — it was peaceful.

Unfortunately, it's hard to combine hard-drinking and productive work. So no more boozing.
