I consider them to be two wings of the same bird in other words, that politics is a bunch of bullshit. Before 2020, I'd definitely have considered myself left wing but then I saw all the stuff that so called left wingers wanted for people- forced vaxes and masks and thought 'hell no!' That's when I started to question things and stopped voting because it feels like contributing to the problems.

I'd be labelled an 'anti vax conspiracy theorist' for sure by most, I am anti Big Pharma and Big Tech but I am most certainly not a right winger. I don't believe borders should even exist, despise all religion, don't see Trump or Musk as saviours and wish no hate on anyone. So I don't really fit in anywhere.

If anything, I'm libertarian, minarchist/night watch man state kinda politics.

I'm considered right-leaning by Silicon Valley/California Bay Area standards which is where I live though I do also believe in things like stricter gun control, being pro-choice in both suicide and abortion rights because I don't feel right telling people what to do with their bodies, and I enjoy taking advantage of public services. I guess this isn't moderate enough because now everybody has to pick a side but I really don't feel comfortable in either wing. Maybe it's because I'm a shitty contrarian and if you surround me with enough people who believe in one thing I'm probably going to want to think the opposite. I don't consider myself above anyone for thinking the way I do though, if anything I'm lower than either side because I'm just a stupid anxious coward who can't solidify my principles and pledge my allegiance to one group in particular no matter how I actually feel about something, though how I actually feel about some things probably isn't very good anyway.

Forcing people to wear masks, and mandating vaccines (which was never actually implemented) to prevent the spread of a deadly virus that killed over 1.2 million people in the US alone dies not make someone authoritarian.

All the scientists and all the data agreed that these measures would prove to be effective, and if you look at how disproportionally affected the US was during Trump's final year, it is clear that they DID prove to be effective. Impossible to deny that at this point.

The only scientists who disagree are the ones who are making money by going around and questioning established scientific truths.

I don't understand why you think you would know better than to trust the people who've studied this field their entire lives. Do you not take pain medication either because they were manufactured by 'Big Pharma'? What you're saying is absurd.

I like to think I'm center but when I look at my opinions on policy its basically stock standard socialist (not the new european right which is traditional socialism and not progressive) im just more okay with authoritarianism :/ I think its because of my cultural heritage that mixes western and eastern moral values so I value individual freedoms but dont value democracy and believe that people have a responsibility towards society. Whatever that is. Democracy still seems to be the best we've got for civil liberties so I just take the L and move on.

Right and left are a fake construct. They haven't really meant anything since Bill Clinton. It was Clinton who got the Democrats corporate donation parity as compared to Republicans. In other words Clinton turned the Democrats INTO Republicans. Than according to Chris Hedges the Republicans went so far right they went insane. All that's happened the last 45 years is recessions, war, and more wealth being aggregated to super rich.

Go back and look at all the major political issues of the last few decades. Congress always circles the wagons when it comes to bailing out banks, blowing up brown people in the middle east (for israel I might add). It's all WWF kayfabe; an illusion to make you think you have political power. Princeton did a study, proving once and for all that Congress doesn't care what the average person wants.

20 years of data reveals that Congress doesn't care what you think.

For the last few years, I've had this sense that everything I learned as a kid about how America's government works is completely wrong. But I had no idea how bad things actually were until I saw one simple graph.

I like the idea of our politics being defined by how we act rather than just what we say. Adages such as "Talk is cheap", "walk the walk", etc; harken in this, as well. Thanks for your words.
