For those that haven't seen it, it's about just that- a bunch of strangers, all struggling with their own problems- who go to a retreat. They don't know from the start but find out they are receiving a microdose of shrooms. The 'leader' of the centre is a woman obviously renown as a guru type figure- played by Nicole Kidman in the series. All the actors are really good. I love Melissa McCarthy.

Assuming you had the money to try it- would you go to such a place- if it existed? Would you put your health, life and possible recovery in the hands of someone else?

I suppose it would be nice to feel like someone so intuitive would be willing to help and be interested in my life. The place itself would no doubt be amazing. I think I'd be scared of the drugs though! Even if overseen by someone else. I'm so square! Seems stupid though- in a way. Isn't it worth trying everything to live before we definitely decide to die?

Don't be hard on yourself about being a "square." Most major governmental bodies demonize "street drugs." Not sure where you grew up, but you may have had an experience with D.A.R.E. They basically try to brainwash you into hating drugs and being a snitch.

All that said, when used like other medicines, they can be helpful. Everything can, of course, be abused.

I didn't try cannabis until I was 30, and I wish I had tried it sooner. (Nothing before 25 because of brain development.)

It was actually a police talk more than anything else. He wasn't even terribly strict. Not the typical: 'don't do drugs.' More a- if you do them, do it as safely as you can. They likely knew that some kids would dabble- whatever they said.

The one that stuck in my mind was LSD though. He said- you could indeed have a good trip but a bad one may see your mind changing anything from a matchbox to a double decker bus into a spider. That was enough to make me think- f*ck no!

I've only used cannabis and shrooms. I haven't messed with much else. I was apprehensive about the psychedelic effects as well, but micro dosing shrooms made me feel nice. I was slowly working on upping the dosage toward a "heroic dose." I wanted ego death to see if it would work for my depression and hoped that would get me more comfortable with the idea.

Alas, legality, supply, and having to devote my lacking resources, to more important matters, prevented me from getting there. ffs
