I don't really like gore even tho I watched it at one point to see what actually happens to people around the world that is hidden from us and to desensitize myself. I also tried to watch surgeries.

I couldn't do it for long and when it comes to gore sites I disliked sadistic comments especially on videos I felt bad about.

But, I still think they shouldn't be banned. And op, there is something about you and nature of your threads that makes me suspect you are not here in good faith. Of course it doesn't mean I am right. It is a feeling.

Like in video games and movies? No
Nudity being a taboo is a travesty
Should certain content be age restricted? yes
This site for example.

maybe if there werent so many problems around that it wouldnt be, but thanks to the fact it is, yeah its not f'en needed. thats why its call "privacy" and done behind closed doors, yet still people love to shove it in your face

(and this is triggering to me because i have problems with it and ive recently found extremely graphic shit on my fb that had no business being there and when i reported it all they did was shrug their shoulders and tell me to filter it out but not tell me how or where to find it. so its kind of an extreme sore spot rn)

Read my other comments, it being a personal choice isn't a good argument when it comes to young people who don't know better.
I agree that being aware of the negatives in life is important, but its easy to go way further than that, it can lead you to believe the world entirely is a bad place, which is wrong imo, and even if it isn't having that mindset will only hurt you and others around you.
But the world, imo, IS a bad place, and I think having that mindset can protect you from it.
Btw, I was a kid in the 80's and 90s pre-internet and still managed to see porn and gore by the age of 12. And no, it wasn't good for me, but it didn't kill me or give me mental illness.
I get where you are coming from and would like to protect kids from this shit but outside of parental intervention I don't see how it happens without a catastrophic loss of human rights for all adults.

Thats true but is not being able to view gore as easily or at all really that bad compared to mentally damaging teens?
I think the world is unfair, and cruel to some, but not a bad place overall, just to some, but thats just my opinion. Your statement is also just an opinion, you can't really enforce it onto everyone

There is no way to simply limit the viewing of gore.
The censorship of the Internet will also limit countless other things, some of them very crucial to many people's well being.
And yes, no point arguing opinion, totally agreed.

I don't think its should be illegal but I had to agree its too excessive in media these days. Too much that alot of us are numb to it.

Like I don't think youngings could just watch beheading videos easily.

Maybe its should be regulated at least

Nah. Death is a part of life. Gore can be excused as freedom of speech. It's often not exploitation material.

It's not comparable to CP or Rape videos.

Its not harmful in the sense that it might hurt the victims shown in the video but it is harmful in other ways. Just because death is a part of life doesn't mean gore should be so accessible.

I understand that it can be damaging to watch such things as a teen :shy:. It might be comparable to pronography...
There should be some kind of age control or so.....
I personally learned to overlook or blind out anything that I don't want to see or let close but it s clear that teenagers are not yet able to do so (it did not exist when I was a teen, fortunately).

Animal torture is impossible to find, that's sad. Or I'm just too clueless. Humans killing humans in Latin America is so passé.

I would never view that kind of thing, but also I don't believe in censorship. In my view it should not be illegal. A reasonable compromise might be to require sites hosting that kind of material to post a warning that Some people might find the material on this site distressing Do you wish to proceed?. If you then click "Yes", and proceed to view it, it's your responsibility, and you have no grounds to complain if it messes you up.

most sites i've been on already have this, along with an 18+ warning of course.

No, how else would i get my fix?

I consume gore and torture videos daily, i just enjoy watching what happens to the human body when it is dismembered and hacked to pieces.

Yea there's screaming and begging etc, but you just don't notice it much in my opinion.

I just enjoy seeing death and misery, what can i say?

I agree that it is technically the viewer fault, but at a certain age some people just don't know better and wouldn't even notice the warning.
I agree that it should only be restricted but I think it should be more restricted than that

I think gore has its place on the internet. Certainly, in video, written, or drawn media, gore can play an important factor in a story. Gore can be incredibly useful for shock factor, to emphasize the severity/reality of a situation, to dredge up strong emotion, etc in a story.

I don't think gore needs to exist outside of crafted fiction and medical videos though. What benefits are people gleaning from watching something be mutilated? No good ones at least. Morbid curiosity isn't bad, but gore videos and sites create a place for weirdos who watch gore for unsavory purposes.

True. Nothing bad will come from ending gore altogether. Some people might enjoy it, but most of them are evil or atleast pretend to be so who cares, and its really a reason for it to exist when it can really affect the mental health of younger people for the worse.

I guess it depends on the context. Personally I could make good use of graphic content and soft gore before as a medical student, tho I think that's a different situation. I think recording a murder and having the balls to post it online is hypocritical, especially because it can be used against the creator. However, even if it was illegal it could still be easy accesible. CP is all over the internet, for example. People are whack.

not really. it's easily accessed through twitter if you look in the right places. (maptwt, even children putting themselves up online and selling photos to older people. it's a disgusting thing.)

I'm not a fan of gore and I'll admit - people who watch it recreationally both frighten and concern me a little bit. I know it can be used for medical purposes and I'd prefer if people would leave it at just that. I don't see the need for it on public platforms. I remember a troll posted a beheading in a public group chat I was in and it was the worst thing I ever seen. I don't think it's healthy for people to be consuming that on the regular - nor is it fair to the victim to be made a spectacle out of. Though I'm sure if it were banned then a lot of horror movies would get censored or blacklisted, so I guess context matters here as well.

Very restricted compared to other things. Most people wont know where to look.
What im saying is things would be better if gore was more restricted, even if it could still be found.
