I was wondering will it help with improving mood? Sativa is supposed to help.

I am considering taking Sativa Gummies or Chocolate. Its legal in my state.

Anybody tried Cannabis for improving mood/treating depression? Would you recommend it ? (I have never smoked, drank alcohol or taken cannabis before).

Indica vs Sativa

I haven't tried edibles but I did try a highly-concentrated cannabis tincture (liquid form) that was recommended. My first high was amazing; I felt completely disconnected from my body and from this shitty reality. My thoughts no longer caused me any pain. After that, I would obsessively load up on droplets multiple times throughout each day, until my body became completely immune to them... and now it is no longer possible for me to get high anymore.

So yes, cannabis can help. Your first high will likely be unforgettable. But don't overdo it like I did! The temptation to do so is so hard to resist because it's initially that effective at eliminating psychological pain (at least, it was for me).

Thank you for sharing your experience. I will not over do.

I'm not 100% positive. I got mine from a local dispensary. I think they made their own supply, but It was actually my mother who purchased it from them because I was too depressed to get out of bed and she thought it might help with my mood, so I'm not fully informed on all the details of the product other than that it worked as intended.

I think it varies from person to person.

My doc recommended mj for anxiety/mood/pain (this was after he almost killed me from withdrawing benzos too rapidly and would not help with my chronic headaches after I had a craniotomy).

In any case, it did not help at all for me, but I hear it does help some people.

Just be careful. The designer strains today (as opposed to the natural strains of a long time ago) tend to be be much, much stronger.

I had trouble with a 50:50 ratio of CBD:mj (just about coughed my lungs out), so I tried a 1:9 ratio of CBD:MJ after I was told it was more smooth on the lungs - big mistake!

Two hits and I was hallucinating - it was pretty nasty. I knew what was happening though and was able to wait it out - it did resolve.

Also if you go the edible or tincture route, the time to onset of effect is longer when compared with inhaled mj, which takes effect almost immediately.

Many have made the mistake of taking an edible or tincture and because the time to onset of effect is longer, they figure it isn't working, so they take more. Also a big mistake.

Personally, I won't touch the stuff now. But again, that is me and my weird metabolism.

Many anecdotal reports from people say that it does help.

Oh and Indica is said to be more calming and Sativa more energizing. For me, it was Indica they recommended.

<3

On edit: Also, be careful, I have heard rare reports of mj causing psychosis in younger people who use it - course that could be hype or it could have been caused by something else. If you do decide to try it, just go slow at first. : )

thank you for your kind response. it was very helpful.

i have been thinking for 8-9 months now, never summoned enough courage to actually try it.

may be try both indica and sativa and see what happens. will start very low and see.

You are most welcome, and thank you!

I realized after I wrote all of that, that you were specifically referring to edibles.

I am sorry - I have been exhausted lately.

Just be careful with them - I knew someone who ate a lacedd brownie, and because it did not kick in quickly enough, she at another and another. Once it kicked in, she was in a world of pain and hallucinations for quite a while.

I do not know how old you are, but there is also some concern that edibles (or weed in general) can impact the brain among those <25 years of age, since the brain is still developing.

If you opt to try it anyway - please, go very slow. I am older, and the recommendation I was given was sativa in the morning and indica in the evening.

Also, I am not sure if you drive, but the police around here now consider weed as driving under the influence - so I would check your local laws just in case.

Somehow eating a chocolate feels more natural than attempting to smoke Cannabis.

I am older than 25, so it should be fine i guess.

I will be ultra careful and will start lowest dose. i will take it at home and wont drive till its effects are totally totally off.

If I summon enough courage to try it that is :)

Thank you again.

I have consumed edibles a few times before but ultimately realized that it doesn't help me. My paranoia and anxiety levels increase when I do feel it. Plus I become even more sleepy than I already normally am.

thank you @littleloup

have you taken Sativa or Indica? Indica seem to work as sleep aid. but paranoia and anxiety increasing is disappointing though.

i've smoked weed before on and off for the last few months. my tolerance is quite low, so it only takes about a third of a gram to make me feel it. i haven't experienced paranoia, but I become quite clumsy and i lose my train of thought often, which is a lil annoying. this is with sativa, hybrid, and indica.

overall, i would suggest to give it a try. be sure to start slow and give it some time to peak so you don't take too much.

I take edibles with a 1:1 ratio of CBD to THC. This helps me feel a little less depressed and keeps my appetite up. Typical dose for me is 5 mg CBD and 5 mg THC.

most weed has little CBD content and gives me anxiety/tachycardia at moderate doses

Did you ever go about it?
If you feel apprehensive or whatever you can DM me! I can talk to you more about it and help you feel more comfortable. I'm quite experienced lol but I also never smoked recreationally before trying it medically as well so I understand. Uh if you don't end up messaging me just please don't go for a pure sativa tho. I'd recommend a good hybrid of indica/sativa. Especially in a legal state it's so easy to buy from a bud tender that will help you. If you're comfortable, tell them what you're looking for. Good luck

I've taken both. I do prefer Indica is more calming, but I get an increase in anxiety / paranoia from both

I eat Sativa Edibles from time to time and they really do improve my mood. If you're looking for a long-lasting mood improvement, I recommend trying psilocybin mushrooms. They are very effective against depression and other mental illnesses.

It's like all other drugs - if you use them in moderation they can be very relaxing or enhance your inner state.
Cannabis usually calms and relaxes.
Physical dependence does not occur with occasional use.

Thank You. I spent thousands of hours researching Psychedelics. If not for its legal status I would have tried in 2018 itself when I read my first book on Psychedelics :(

is the reccomendation to take CBD:TMC in 1:1 ratio was for you only or for anybody in general who want to use it for depression?
Oh! It's what I use personally and a recommendation for anyone who wants to try something different than typical THC-heavy products. For some, products w/o CBD work great! But for me, I need the CBD to prevent the THC from making me too anxious and paranoid.

With cannabis, sometimes experimentation can be required to get the best results.

Personally, I love weed. However when I stopped smoking it for about 5 months now, I started regaining my energy to do things and remembering why I was sad. I think weed helps because of the short term memory loss it gives you. I never use to fight or argue with my ex about anything nor did I realize how hypocritical he was because I could never remember/ care enough to fight. So it helps to some extent but I don't think it's as much of a miracle as people say it is and I used to be one of those people who swore it would solve everything.

I live in a state where it's marijuana is legal, so I've tried just about everything. The only strain I will use is indica. Sativa gives me intense anxiety. I have liquid THC pills that will help with physical pain, but I can't say it's decreased my depression, it just helps me get to sleep. But what sucks is that studies show that cannabis interferes with the REM cycle of sleep, so you may fall asleep easier, but the quality of sleep is not good. I wake up feeling tired.

I've been microdosing psilocybin for about 3 months now. I thought is was helping, but I've had a hard time finding the "sweet spot." Anyway, what started happening was I was getting tremors;started in my hands and is now in my jaw. I am part of the microdosing community on Reddit and asked about this and another user said the same thing. So now I'm a bit hesitant to keep going down that road.
I have done macrodoses though, that have helped me work out some of my issues with intense grief. I find myself feeling pretty good for about a week afterwards. Almost like a brain reset. Psychedelics are showing a lot of promise for mental health issues. Just wish there was a bit more guidance besides greeting advice from random people on Reddit. Although I have to say it's a wonderful community.
