I believe you need to put the maximum weight into it. No going easy.

If I was you I would do full suspension. The rope should not be elastic. If you hang with legs in the air and nobody will find you will be dead soon

First, practice putting your fingers over your veins/arteries on the neck for five or ten seconds while standing or sitting. Get a feel for where the pressure should be by noting when you feel faint.

Then align the noose there. Put your full weight into the noose suddenly by "pretending to be dead", just relax your body and hang limp. Ideally there shouldn't be Head pressure, but there might be a little. Vision should start to get weird in ten to fifteen seconds, and you should start to get some other weird feelings as well (for me it's euphoria, bodily lightness, and a grinding staticky noise). Hopefully this helps.

Also note that it can be finicky, as you found out... so you may have to give it several tries before you get success. If you do get success, it can be really hard to pull out so just make sure you're ready to ctb.

You are talking about leaning forward into the noose, right?

The feelings I get when done correct is my tounge tastes Mattalic and then it goes quiter then slowly start to fade away. You have to take a bit of pain in the neck as you need all your weight on it if you sat down put your legs out in front of you it will be soon lights out not head explosion if done correct if you are feeling that start again and put all weight on it it works it's scary at first but it works and you get used to the feeling after a while. I do it daily about 10 times a day as I want to ctb very soon
