Unfortunately yes... Personally I think it's similar to the n word to black people. The meaning of "banana people" is that, those *BC's are born yellow but their inner minds are influenced by white people.

Yellow pride is real.
The mainstream Chinese does not like people different from them.
It's like a phobia and they think their traditional views are so much better.

I've never heard of the term banana being used before lol. I guess I'm a BBC and a banana...

I mean if u think about it,
the insult is mostly designed for people of strong Chinese origin.

I find it bizarre for people to be called these things in western countries especially if they have strong ties to their current nationality,
most people are born there as well.
