I feel that. I was 100% convinced I wouldn't make it to 20. It typically feels weird to be around still decades past that.

Sometimes I feel a lot younger mentally because I've not had a chance to live yet (thanks trauma and mental illness), but then other times I feel about 80 because of the amount of things I've been through. Either way it sucks.

Lol it's not a common expression for people my age but since this is an old person thread I thought maybe. But yes, "All cats are grey in the dark" is an old expression downplaying the importance of appearance, I believe.

When I had cats they were mostly invisible in the dark, thus ensuring they became the ultimate trip hazard.

Looking back on my teenaged oath to kill myself at 30 if I was still single and depressed and smh. The primate urge to live is a bitch.

It's tough to reach the age when it seems like everyone else around you has their life together -- their own house, spouse, kids, tight circle of friends -- while you're still struggling. I still feel like a teen/young adult sometimes because I'm so far behind the curve with respects to milestones no matter how much people insist that you can go at your own pace.
