Animal cruelty

All the endless news about the way some people abuse, neglect or kill animals. Makes me feel even more hopeless and want to die even more. My heart breaks every time I read one, I try to avoid the stories but they are everywhere and just makes me wish I was dead more. I know its not everyone that does it, but i wish I wasn't human. Rant over sorry. Does anyone else feel like this?

Yes. I feel this way all the time. It breaks my heart so much. I hate being a human, and therefore contributing to the horrible things humans do. No I don't directly do it myself of course, but I feel like simply being alive and part of humanity, therefore makes me part of the problem. The earth would be so much better off without humans.

I despise anyone who is cruel to animals. But if we cant be kind to others of the same species, what chance do other species stand? I would happily take a baseball bat to the knees of anyone who mistreats animals and make no apology for it either. Kids and animals are the two groups I hate to see suffer abuse.

I would be a vegetarian if I was in a better mental state. Right now I simply can't invest that much time into my diet but I don't feel great about eating meat. And I wish I could be a vegetarian but if I ever improve, that's the first thing I'll do.

Yes it really annoys me to hear about it and angry when I hear of innocent animals being harmed. My parents smoke in front of the dog all day and there's nothing I can do about that. They are too ignorant to care which pisses me off. I stopped eating meat but went back to it then stopped again after having a dream about an abattoir, I could feel the sense of suffering and death in the air.

That's something that I truly hate. Anyone who can abuse animals and not feel bad about it is sick. That's the type of person I wouldn't walk across the street to spit on if he was on fire.

It's one of those clear deciders for me if someone is good or bad at their core. I have met plenty of people who don't think animals matter, are just things, and treat them like property or objects. They think people getting upset about a pet dying is ridiculous. You can learn everything you need to know about a person's inner decency by how they interact with weaker/smaller/needier/vulnerable lives.

My dad does that too, I worry about the poor dog.

Glad I'm not the only one, I would never want to hurt anyone. But I am severely tested when I see those sickening things.

Slightly off topic - but I adore the amazing way that animals (particularly dogs) can improve a persons mental state.

I am a youth worker in a locked residential facility with Child Protection, so the kids I work with are really messed up from abuse and neglect. By the time we see them, they often are showing abusive traits themselves. It's all trauma. These kids are completely ignored by society, and are dismissed as too damaged and too hard.

And then I bring my dog in if the clients are suitable and my dog will be safe, and these young people completely revert back to being wonderful and compassionate kids. These kids will spit in your face and try to choke you out if you're late with their hot chocolate, but as soon as a dog is in the building, the attitude shifts. My dog doesn't like loud noises, so they all try really hard to not slam doors. They take turns patting him (which he loves) and playing with him outside. These kids show a level of empathy and love that they often can't otherwise access. It's a perfect litmus test to see how the kid is operating.

Nothing in the world that makes me more angry and filled with rage than cruelty to animals. Makes me want to hurt them, and see how they like it. Unless they're a masochist, in that case, I would not give them the satisfaction.

Dogs are the best, i could talk all day about them. And its great what you do.

Honestly...and this REALLY upsets egotistical humans...if bus was about to hit a stranger and my cat...and I could only save one...kitty lives. People mostly get super angry when you suggest an animal life could be more valuable to you than a human and of course I would make every effort to help anyone I could in any situation. But my cat is my best friend and most important life in my world. To me it's no different than someone prioritizing their children or other loved ones if a choice has to be made. I know its all a mental exercise one would never have to prove...it's just a way to express how much an animal life can mean and how much I think they are as valid as any other.

I cant stand that, it drives me crazy. I remember when I was 8-9 years old, I saw guys torturing a wounded pigeon...I just lost it and hurt them so bad.
as a reward I had to meet a shrink who explained to me that what they had done did not justify my "violence" toward them

I remember at work a few years ago. there was a young guy. who would of been about 19 or 20. and he was laughing about how he swerved his car to run over a cat that was lying on the road. he joked about how it sounded after running it over. god did i have a deep seated hate for that young man. he couldn't understand why no one else thought it was funny. shit like that makes me realize how fucked up humanity can be. i couldn't shake the image that somewhere out there maybe a little boy or girl was crying because beloved cat never made it home.

I think if someone did that to my cat i would go on the war path.
