Amazon slammed for selling 'suicide manual' that retired GP used to plan death

Mary Jones, 86, was found dead in her home after ordering a copy from the retailing giant’s website. Since her death on November 7, two coroners have written to Amazon separately to protest about the sale of the book.

I just had a look on amazon.co.uk and it is probably: Suicide: Methods for a safe and peaceful death, by Boris Kilian. I dont know whether it is any good; I haven't read it. However, judging from the comments by people who have read it, many of the methods it discusses are rather impractical for ordinary people.

I think the information available on SaSu is probably far better.

Why are they blaming Amazon? That's so stupid. Amazon is just the distributor and it would be a disaster to expect a multibillion dollar shipping corporation to dictate moral and political correctness. It's not like they wrote and published the book.

It's quite discrete in it's title and cover. It sits in my bookcase and no one realises what it is. Describes in detail 5 methods including nn

Stuff like this infuriates me. When did the West begin to believe that the government and or corporations need to "protect" us common folk from everything! The coroners saying action should be taken and they have the power to take said action. I am so sick of being "protected" for my own good! And for goodness sake she was 86 years old. I honestly do not understand this idea of keeping people alive no matter what. She was a doctor, she knew what was in store for her. Would they rather have her suffering on a respirator not being able to move!

If good hospice/elderly care is not a guarantee than people will opt to CTB rather than be left outside in a hospital parking lot, abused in a nursing home, or enjoying the revolving door of homelessness to jail (since homelessness is essentially a crime now.) Why do people just want to hide the ugly in life and not seek to work together to solve it? Oh...that pesky little green paper again.
